I bouth my XD-45 C...
...for several reasons:
1. I love the .45 round as it was originally designed to stop attackers, period. 2. I didn't really like the feel of my SIG P226 in 9mm so I traded it for the XD-45. 3. I shot a friend's XD-45 and my Kimber 1911 ProCarry II and target acquisition was much easier/faster with the XD. 4. Having been on the 2-way shooting range called Operation Iraqi Freedom I wanted a firearm that wouldn't jam when a little dust found its way in it. 5. The shortened grip means I can conceal it easier without "printing" 6. Springfield Armory's great customer service 7. I can add upgrades (such as a laser or light) very easily thanks to the rail system 8. It's just a great gun. Just my 2 cents worth but having combat experience and being shot at, reliablity is a big issue with me. |

The XDs' reputation for reliability, value for money, preference for .45acp, and previous experience with SA products all figured into it.
What sold me on it was a conversation I had with a couple of range operators who told me that they were going to phase out HK USP rentals in favor of XDs, not because HKs aren't excellent weapons, but because the jackasses in the rental crowd had not yet managed to break an XD. That says a hell of lot about reliability, durability and simplicity, all of which are good things to have in a weapon.

I wanted a reliable, durable, virtually rust-proof, 5" barreled, single-trigger pull, easy to find holsters for, naturally pointing gun. Also the fact I got it almost LNIB for $350. I've shot a G35 before and while it was nice, the grip angle on the XD was more of what I was used to with my other guns, plus I wanted traditional rifling so I could use my lead reloads without having to spend for another replacement barrel.

Felt great in my hands
I bought the 45 due to all the good reviews. The first day I took it to the range it seemed to be shooting to the right a little. I had to constantly re-grip it. I put a new AGrip on it today and it feels so much better. Can't wait to get to the range again and try it again. Great gun and well worth the money!!

I grasped her and knew she was the one for me.
