This list is only for XD45 pistols.
Not trying to be discriminatory, just worked out that way.
I called Springfield Armory about XD 45 serial numbers.
Serial numbers are not necessarily consecutive by date so there are going to be those that are out of order even though there is something of a consecutive trend into 2008 when the numbers began with 6 or 7.
I've learned that the dates on the envelope containing the test bullet casing are the dates that the weapon was tested at the factory in Croatia.
The dates on the envelope are written in the European convention as Day - Month - Year. When you post your date, please SPELL OUT THE NAME OF THE MONTH so I can convert it to Month - Day - Year.
The dates that you get when you call Springfield with your serial number are the dates that the weapons were received by Springfield in the US.
That seems to explain where the numbers and dates seem to overlap over a couple of months' range.
Update from ThumperIII - For anyone that lives in a state that requires any type of firearm registration or basic FFL sale/transfer paper, the correct date of manufacture (as recorded from the fired shell envelope by the FFL licensee) should be written in the 'Firearm Description" section of the application form. So even if they didn't get or keep their fired shell casing envelope, its worth a check of the Owner's Copy of the paperwork. Doesn't apply to everyone, but could aid some people with identifying the mfg date.
This list is only for XD45 pistols.

I'll leave out the letters "US" to avoid repetitive typing, and I'm using the US date order (month, day, year), but here's what I've got verified so far:

This is the first report of a serial number beginning with XD instead of US. I called SA customer service and learned that newly manufactured pistols were being received with serial numbers beginning with XD along with pistols with serial numbers beginning with US.
I'll list those separately and see how it plays out.
When you post your serial number, please make sure you note if it begins with XD or US.
Let's see if we can expand the list by having others report their serial numbers and manufacture dates either from the date on the test fire casing's envelope or a phone call to Springfield Armory 800-680-6866.
