I was inspired to post this by the Ford glove box mod. Here is something thrown together for under $5 that does exactly what I want it to do - hold my XD45 with light attached readily accessible...

Is that marking up the front of the barrel/slide?

You might want to throw a rubber washer or something on there, not only to protect the crown but also to stop the gun rotating if you nudge it by accident.

When we are done with house buying/moving, I am going to fab a bracket to attach the XD Gear holster I got with my Tactical to the frame of the bed. A couple of screws, a little bit of filing and I should have a rock solid grab n' go XD mount like yours!

It looks like you have a rubber or vinyl sleeve over the bracket at the top to keep from scratching the slide and barrel crown? Or is that just tape?

its that a tampon on the angle bracket?...lol just kidding, nice job, i took an old leather holster and screwed it to the wood side of my bed...works good too!

Can you post some details on what you've got going on there? I can't quite see how it's done. Have you got something actually going up the barrel to hold the gun in position? Thanks.

The BOM for this high-tech weapon retension system consists of:
1 - 1 1/2" corner brace (w/supplied screws)
1 - 3/8" dowell pin
1 - length of tape

It's hard to tell, but I wrapped the tape around the top of the brace to prevent scratching the end of the receiver/barrel. Of course I pre-drilled the dowell for the screw to prevent splitting. I wasn't sure if the dowell would be strong enough, but it seems to be holding up fine.

I like the rubber washer idea, though - I'm going to make that enhancement.

Yes, the barrel goes over the dowell pin and rests on the top of the bracket. This simple 'compromise' over a holter mount was to accomodate the light.
