I dunno, getting a revolver in 45acp or 9mm kinda defeats the purpose of getting a revolver. Other than saving on buying another caliber, you're not gonna gain much.

It could just be my love of magnum revolvers talking though...

You really need to shoot with a moon clip revolver sometimes. There is no other type of speed loader made that compares to the speed of dropping in 6 fresh rounds clipped together. Add in the low cost of moon clips and there is no impediment to hitting the range with as many boxes of ammo pre-clipped as you care to shoot.

Take a look at the sw governor. 45lc, 45acp, and the snazzy 410 shell all in one pistol.

Good lord, NO.

Gimmick guns, good for range toys and blasting the occasional snake.

For the most part, we don't suggest a 18" barrel .410 shotgun for HD...why in the world would we suggest one with a 3" barrel for defense?

Add in they are freaking HUGE--pretty useless for carry.

For hunting, sure.

For defensive use, though...dead wrong. A .45acp revolver offers you a big-bore round, without the overpenetration worries and recoil of a .44 mag...and while, sure, one could go with a .44 spl...why? .45acp has slightly better ballistics than most commercially loaded .44spl, and is available in the premium HD loads...where .44spl really isn't.

Add in the speed in reloading that moon clips provide...and there's a lot to be said about them.

Oh no, I totally understand the desire for moon clips. I need to send my SP101 off to get converted.

It's more my love of the magnum calipers and the versatility you can get by going with a lighter special load to a big hard hitting magnum from the same gun.

And I like having more than a couple calibers handy. It's been pretty easy to find .357 mag about anywhere.

I once owned a S&W 642 that I bought for pocket carry, but the LCP got that spot and I sold the 642.

I shot a friend's 44mag several years ago, like 1998.
I liked shooting the 44sp rounds, but the 44mag was quite a handful.
I also shot my Dad's Taurus Model 85 and S&W Model 10 that his Dad carried as a Chicago cop a long time ago.
I'd like something a little bigger than a 38sp or 357mag.

Thinking about a 45ACP revolver, but know nothing about them.
Reason I'm consider 45ACP is because I already buy that caliber.
Also, for that reason, considering a 9mm revolver.
But I'm guessing the 9mm will be about even, or less, than the 38sp.

Do all the 45ACP /9mm "auto" revolvers use moon clips?

I'd like info and recommendations on this issue.
Should I get a different caliber?
Can you recommend some guns?
I'm not a fan of Taurus semis, but I hear they make a good wheel gun.
I'm also not S&W's biggest fan, but I would consider one.
Charter Arms, I know nothing about them.
I'd like to keep this purchase under $800, but $600 would be better..

Looking for a 2-4 inch barrel, nothing longer.
May end up carrying it when Barry takes all my semis away..

Any and all info will be appreciated...
Thank you in advance...........1LL
I'm going to put my stupid out here, so if you get headaches easily, stop reading now. If you want to shoot 9mm luger from a revolver, you can use any .357 magnum and moon clip them together. The 9mm has slightly less pressure and the bullet diameter is just a hair smaller. I don't see why you would need a special revolver for that purpose. Hopefully someone will explain why I'm wrong?
