The 460
So, I went hunting hogs and used a XD .45 loaded with 45 +P loads thinking it would be fine. For the smaller pigs with perfect, behind the ear shot placement, the .45 worked like a dream. In the instance where I locked in on a near 300lber coming at me... well I'm glad I had the 13 round mag. So, I decided if I find a good deal, I'm buying a 460 XVR revolver. I found one for $900 all in and got it back in November. I put a few shots through it with iron sights and literally was barely keeping the lead on the paper. I decided to do a scope or red dot. Scopes seem good since the 460 can shoot reliably up to 200 yards according to the ballistics. However, if I am shooting 200 yards, I am using a rifle. Up to 100 yards, now that's handgun territory to me. So, I searched high and low for a red dot that could handle the recoil. I literally had to call Burris twice to get clarification but they said the Burris Fastfire III would handle my beast and if it didn't Burris vowed to replace the red dot. Got it and I was shooting bullseyes after I tuned in the Burris. Hogs, deer and maybe even bear... watch out!

AWESOME. I really want a .460sw. I'll probably go with a Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan when I do.
EDIT: Ruger doesn't make a 460. I thought they did.

Its thrust is deep and causes agonizing pain.

That was .480, a cut down .475 linebaugh.
Super Redhawks are still out there, but as far as I know, it's out of production in .480 Ruger.
Really impressive caliber, but not quite in the class of the .460 and .500 S&W.
