That or even closer. If she feels good about hitting the target, she will want to keep at it. And congrats on hetting her a new gun.

I have the sw 642, and when you can find the set point take breath, let her go.
You have to start close 7 yards max. I shoot very good with it now. took my ccw
class with it . Not a good learning/starting gun, but it's my fun gun to shoot.

That is probably one of the hardest guns to start off with. Get some snap caps and let the dry firing begin! Practice until the trigger control is second nature.

I have a 642 and it is one of my favorite guns. I installed the Apex Tactical j-frame kit which made the trigger unbelievably SMOOTH and took a couple lbs off the pull. Then I added a Hogue grip. Both upgrades were well worth the money.

Five shot revolvers are extremely accurate if you practice. Try using 148 grain wadcutters if possible. A Pachmayr Gripper grip helps with control and blisters. A weigh lifting glove is good too. The recoil will always be felt with a 13-19 oz. gun. It's also not a good idea to shoot alot of +P's through it even if the gun is rated for those loads. I am waiting for SW to sent me a new gun (frame crack) after 70 rounds. The steel frames (Model 36,60) hold up better. Google search Airweight frame cracks.

Trigger control!! trigger control!! Double action only revolvers take some getting used too and it takes some practice to have some good trigger control with pretty heavy triggers. Also the short sight radius Does not help things either.
