Plus 100 there, XD400D. A snubbie is EXTREMELY difficult to shoot accurately, especially when you're hyped up with adrenalin. For some reason, most people tend to "heel" the snubbie. That is - aim high - like they're pushing the heel of their hand forward into the grip. If, as the OP states, "I don't really plan on shooting this gun a lot.", he needs to seriously consider a different gun. Constant practice is the only way someone should pack heat. I generally put 50 rounds through my carry piece at least 3 out of 4 weeks at the range. A .357 mag with a boot grip, light enough to run with, it gonna kick like a drunken mule. Only a lot of practice with good technique will enable the user to handle it.

Concerning your choices, OP, IMO, I repeat, IMO - the S&W is over priced, and the Rossi trigger SUCKS. Charter Arms has cleaned up their act and they now produce good, inexpensive guns. Again, IMO, Taurus leads the field in price vs quality. I've owned several Taurii, and I will own more. Look into the Ruger LCR, too. I carry one as my yard/shop gun.

I think besides my xdm45 ... I was most accurate the LCR 357 , with gold dots.

I'll give it a good home. I operate a "rescue" for unwanted guns. Kind of like the "island of misfit toys".

I'm in Utah. Bring it on over.

When I say I don't plan to shoot it a lot I mean I'm not going to take it to the range and blast 3-500 rds downrange like I would my g19. I fully plan on training with it a lot. I understand they snubbies are difficult to shoot. My other option would be a Kel tec p32 or something of that nature. Those guns still don't have a good sighting option a u channel down the top of the slide.

I would love to get a smith 340 M&P but I don't have that kind of cheddar right now. I'm also looking at the Taurus 605 poly too. The hammer is not concealed but is bobbed. at 120 cheaper than the LCR that might play a into the deciding factor.

The LCR is no. 1 on the list right now. I like the big front sight that I can switch our for a XS big dot. Its really light.

Enjoying all the points and conversation on this thread.

Sp101 makes a bobbed hammer. I love Ruger sp101 and GP100 great revolvers. Not too heavy but enough weight to tame the 357 all day. In fact it is my wife's pistol for now she eyeing my XD. I also had a 686p great trigger so smooth, but I perfer the Ruger revolvers.

Are there any I'm over looking. I know Taurus and Charter have their scattered problems and it seems like Rossi is having a few on their new guns. I don't really plan on shooting this gun a lot. Occasional range use and I will probably carry it in a belly band when I run. What are your guys personal experiences with what you have. No stories about what happened to joe bob's cousin. I like the smith too but we are building a house right now and money is getting dumped into that so cheaper is better.

Ruger SP101 is simply the best pocket 357 out there. Who can argue with that?

I opted for the 3" barrel and never looked back. I am a traditional SmithWesson guy but I am not a brand worshiper and will call it like I see it.

I can. I'd prefer a S&W Model 19 or 64.

I carry my LCR .38 everyday. Best double action trigger I have shot. The .38+P's are very controllable, I would have no problem shooting .357 out of one. I wanted the .357, but was able to trade straight across for the .38. You should be able to get one easily for under $500...
