I have a S&W 442, 642 and 37airweight in .38spl and a 60 in .357. And after all that the gun I carry the most is my Ruger LCR .38spl. I tried the LCR in .357 and didn't care for it at all. In fact it is diificult to not have to readjust your grip with my .38 LCR with +P's after every shot, but of course YMMV. The LCR is a joy to carry, lightweight, great trigger, no protruding edges to catch, oh and get it with or install the XS front sight. The XS sight is the best modification you can make in my opinion.

A .357 magnum SP 101 with a 2" barrel is not at all uncomfortable to shoot!

Not a bad option either. Built like a tank.

Ruger revolvers are built to handle a lot. Surprised they don't supply a snubby SP 101 in 45 Colt.

I fondled my buddies lcr last night. That think is sweet, it's so dagum light too. Even loaded that bad boy is barely noticeable. His was just the 38 version so the 357 is a little heavier which is fine.

Been looking hard at the sp101 and a smith 637 chiefs special airweight.

Think about it for a second and the answer is obvious why they don't.

Well I plan on shooting mostly 38 out of it. I want the capability to carry 357 for bears and other wild creatures while we are hiking or out on the farm. To me it just makes more since to have one gun with dual purposes.

.357 out of a snub is very weak bear medicine, mainly because most snubs, being lightweight, don't fare well with the heavyweight (heavier than 158gr) bullets you need in order to get proper penetration through a bear's dense fat and heavy bones...in fact, many .357 snubs actually warn to not use bullets heavier than 125gr in magnum loads to prevent the bullets from jumping the crimp and locking up the cylinder. And a 125gr load is not going to get the penetration needed to stop Mr. Bear, particularly with most of it's velocity robbed by the short barrel of a snub.
If you are dead set on this course, then I'd recommend a 3" SP101, and nothing shorter. But for what you describe...get a good lightweight snub in .38 for "urban" carry, and get something heavier for out on the farm.
