EAA Revolvers

I'm looking for a cheaper revolver to keep in the truck that I won't care if it gets stolen or beat to crap. Has anyone had any experiance with the EAA line of revolvers? I have shot some of the semi-auto pistols and liked them but never any of their wheelies. Thoughts?

Expect the forum police to come and give you a lecture with their holier than thou attitude.

I have not heard the best things about the windicators. Might want to pick up a taurus or rossi or charter instead. cdnn has some insane deals on revolvers right now. You can get a 327 magnum for like 230 bucks.

I handled one and for what you say your intended use is then I felt it to be fine. It wasn't the smoothest or nicest machined but it seemed ok for when you would need it and for the price it wouldn't be bad for taking a beating. As far as stolen. I wouldn't want any of my guns stolen....

Ok didn't think I needed to explain that it is not that I wouldn't care if it was stolen but I would care less than if one of my expensive handguns was stolen. If it got snatched i would be out $250 not a grand for my 1911. I am sorry for my verbage, now if you have a contributing opinion feel free to reply.

I've never heard of EAA. You can get a good revolver for under $300, and you wont have to worry about it falling apart in your hand when you pull the trigger, cartoon style.

I have a S&W 442 that I got in a trade. Have yet to fire it but I haven't heard any serious complaints about it and it seems pretty solid to me. Price tag on the case says $400, but you can find them for around $300 used.

Probably even cheaper of you go with a Taurus.

You can get a 4" S&W Model 10 for $269 at Buds:

Used S&W Model 10 38sp Police Issue $269.00 SHIPS FREE

IMHO a better gun and a much better deal. I'd take a used Smith over a new EAA everyday.

You could always keep an eye out for a used Ruger SP-101 or a Charter Arms.

Waterhead,

I owned an EAA Bounty Hunter single action revolver in 45 Colt. I bought it to experimentwith and see if it was as strong as a Ruger single action. I shot handloads through the gun exclusively, some of them on the very stout side. Generally speaking, the gun was tough as a tank and a pretty good value. I sold it because I just couldn't squeeze the accuracy out of it I was looking for.

My observations:
-the fit and finish of my specimen was pretty good. Bluing even, workmanship and fitting looked good, no toolmarks visible.
-every screw on the gun seemed to work itself loose. This was true even when I wasn't shooting bear loads. Not a big deal, and nothing a little blue Loctite won't fix, but still annoying.
-the barrel leaded with every lead bullet handload I tried. No matter the bullet size, lube, or load, the barrel leaded badly. I attribute it to a rough bore and lack of lapping from the factory. Not surpising, given the price point.
-good sights. For a fixed sight gun, EAA did a good job making a nice, heavy, square front sight and a rear sight channel.

I have no experience with EAA's double action revolvers, but you asked for experience, so I gave mine.
