It is foolish to shoot 357 out of a snubby. Really no reason or benefit. Actually there is no reason to shoot 357 mag unless you hunt.

He's right about one thing, a .357 out of a snub has no benefit over a .38spl +P except more blast and recoil. The barrel lengths are just not long enough for the .357 to do what it needs to do. The .357 snubs are nice since it's possible to shoot .357 if that's all one had on hand and since they're usually a little heavier, the recoil will be even less with the .38spl +P ammo.

We bought the sp101 4.2" 357 first and later bought the LCR357.
Last year for Valentines Day my wife ask me if I would buy her a Ruger Sp101 4.2" barrel 357. (Is she a keeper or what?) She had done the research and chose it over anything else. So I did then helped her run about 600 thru it and then had a gunsmith slick up the action. Great shooting revolver and she really like the target sights. We usually shoot 38's in it. She also conceal carrys it in a Blackhawk belt pistol pouch that worked great.
For Christmas this year she ask for a LCR 357 and will shoot 38's out of it. We have both been sick and have not been able to shoot yet. We know there will be trade off but for her CC gun the LCR seems like a good choice. She is having a hard time finding a holster for OWB at about 1:00 or 2:00 position. Does anyone have any holster suggestions?

I know this is a Springfield forum and I love my XD9SC. I just wish they made revolvers.

I have the LCR in 357 and love it.
Don't kid yourself into thinking it is a range gun because for most people it's not, but I don't have any problem running a box of 357's through it when I hit the range.
I also have the 38 LCR and I can say that running +P's in that is more harsh than running them in the 357. I attribute that to the few extra ounces of weight in the 357.
I think they are both keepers and serve a purpose.

SP101 is fantastic if you dont mind the weight , local gunsmith uses it as he main carry and its smooth as anything i have ever pulled double action. After some work of course.

357 in a small gun like sp101 is rough , shooting out of an ultralight for lack of a better term is murder but the lightness is great for carry esp a backup DONT FLINCH !! : )
