It'll suck and draw a crowd at the same time! I think I'm going to try and load down some .357 for my LCR and see how that feels.

Exactly what I do....The LCR is a fine shooter with the .38 +P......

What amazes me about my LCR .357 is its accuracy and the very smooth, light trigger. Yeah, it kicks, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would. Yes, .38's are downright fun to shoot out of this thing. My wife stole mine, but I'll get another some day. I'm only left with an XDm .45 Compact 3.8 and an Mp9c, but I guess I'll survive.

I've put about 100 158gr full power reloads thru mine at a sitting with no problems. One would definately feel it after awhile but one would think if it was used during an encounter you wouldn't even think about recoil and blast.

Love the sp101 so does the wife! I still remember the day she loaded it with 357 and shot better than with 38+P. I told myself dang she a keeper! (the gun ) joke. I also been eyeing the 4 inch but we both happy with the 3 inch model. For us we shot with Black Hills and even though it barks it's not bad with flash nor the recoil. Now I think the lighter LCR it would be a different story. Has anyone tried BuffuloBore short barrel ammo?

Wow ...

My LCR was my first revolver , and first time I've ever shot an .357

It's my favorite gun I've ever had besides my XDm.

I shot 50 rounds of .38spl+ , loaded up 5 shots of Hornady Critical Defense .357 , and after reading all about how "bad" it is -- bang , bang , bang , bang and bang.

IMHO no different then firing my Gold Dots out of my XDM .45 , I then shot an entire box of .357 no problem.

What's funny is I sold my LCP after six shots -- that's the only gun I ever had a recoil problem with.

I think if your looking for a pocket .357 , the LCR is perfect ... The recoil is way exaggerated , and a lot of times it's from people who haven't shot one or who own the .38spl and try to bash it due to the upgraded frame.

Do people expect .357 loads out of a 1.8inch barrel , to shoot like a .22 ? Then get the .22 version . As I said I've never shot a revolver and the .357 was a breeze just like my xdm.

I hope you find a .357 that has no recoil and can slide in your pocket with the quality of the LCR !

I have a blood blister on my finger from trigger bite, and the blast I got in my face every time I shot a 357 round one was borderline painful. I dont think I could ever manage decent follow up shots, but the recoil is not totally unmanageable. I wonder if the trigger bite was improper grip. But it hurts. 38 was down right pleasant to shoot. Very tame, very little recoil. My hand and arm feels fine, even after a couple one handed 357 shots. While I would certainly feel comfortable enough shooting 357 in a defensive/hunting situation, I dont think I'll be doing it at the range anymore. For now I'm content just carrying 38+p in it.

That being said, after I left the range I went out looking for the 4+ inch barrel 357 I've been wanting. Had my eyes set on either a gp100 or a taurus model 65. The shop didnt have either. What caught my eye was a 4.2 inch adjustable rear sight fiber optic front sp101. I ended up taking it home. This model seems to be new as I cant find any reviews other than gunblast on it. Im a little worried about the durability of the fiber optic front sight though. Is the any way to prevent these from breaking and/or falling out? Kind of odd to have such fragile sights on a revolver famous for being a budget high quality tank.

I think the lcr will remain a 38spl concealed carry gun and the magnums will be saved for the sp101. I should also mention the lcr had one malfunction where the trigger didnt reset. I shot a round, went bang. Trigger stayed back. I pulled it a few times, tried to push it forward. Only thing that fixed it was me pulling on it and sliding my finger off to let it spring forward. Maybe it just needs to be broken in?
And also to add : you shot 20 rounds ...

It's a pocket .357 not a range toy ... If you can shoot it 5 times accurately I don't see why your complaining.

To date I have 200 rounds through my LCR no problems whatsoever

on the flipside, I've put at least 150 rounds out of an SP in a sitting.

for it's size, the SP is a ***** cat to shoot.

First day I had my lcr 357 I put 100 rounds of 158grain in about 15 minutes, all one handed. I love the little guy. fun to shoot and really smooth and accurate for such a little piece

My airweight J-frame is a handful with 38 +P loads. Exactly why I do not shoot many full-power 357 mags is a platform such as this (and I don't mind recoil as I shoot my 500 S&W very often).
