After shooting the gov side by side with a judge, id go with the gov. It was more accurate for me than the judge. The pdx 410 shells are pretty neat. Until they drop in price ill stick to my 40sub, and even then it would have to be a hell of a deal.

I think the governor is a gimmick, same as the judge.

I thought about getting one for a while. But they are friggin huge. I'd rather stick with the ol' standards - .357mag, .44mag, or .45lc.

Sent using America's nonexistent 4g network - Sprint.

I picked one up. It was made for a defense gun and that's what ill use it for. The recoil with the 45s weren't bad at all. Pretty accurate. It pointed very easily. The tritium sight is nice. I wouldn't want to get hit with any. 410 coming from that. Especially with a 45 acp or a heavy 45 colt fallow up shot. I can say the moon clips particularly the full moon clips required to shoot the acp are a pain to take off the spent case. But there's a tool for it. Moon clips are inexpensive. Its a nice solid comfortable revolver. The trigger I felt was excellent. No matter how you choose to use it. Single or double. Gimmick or not it'll live up to its intended use.

That's the problem you think, you don't know.

Actually...

A .410 handgun is a poor choice as a defensive arm, for a few solid reasons.

First off, the much-touted .410 shotshells, firing 000 pellets, is the ballistic equivalent of the old .36 cap and ball revolver--never renown as a manstopper. Also, the rifling will spread pellets rapidly, increasing the chances of a stray round (during that pharmacy shooting in OK a year or two ago, people on the street were ducking from the stray pellets when the employee fired his Judge at the fleeing felons). Since we are responsible for every projectile that comes from our weapon, this is not a good thing.

.410 Slugs? Why bother, when you have a much more effective option with .45 Colt...

Except that's not all that fine & dandy either...the looooong chamber a .45C bullet has to travel down is not going to be conducive to accuracy. .45acp will only be worse.

Add to that, even if one decides to use the more effectilve--that is, .45, in any flavor--cartridge, there are much more compact handguns that can deliver the same performance in an easier to carry package.

I'm still waiting for anyone to show me what the upside of these pistols could be. They might make a "gee-whiz neato" range toy, but as a serious defensive weapon...they fall very, very short of the mark.

The only thing I see it as being effective for is snakes while I dove hunt. .410 is much nicer to shoot close range than 12 ga. But I
Am not made of money and have way more important things to spend my money on. I let the ranch owner buy one. All I have to do is buy shells/bullets if I ever want to shoot it . Other than that it's a well advertised item kinda like the shamwow.

I was just watching an episode of Shooting USA and they were doing ballistics gel tests of various firearms and one of them was a short barreled Judge or Governor. They fired Federal 000 buck and it penetrated completely through a 12" block of gel. Just saying.
