Can't decide which Taurus .44
Like the title says, I'm having a lot of trouble picking between these two. The pros and cons as I see them:
The 6.5 inch standard looks fairly normal, and probably handles just fine. I'm not sure how many holsters are designed for a 6.5 though, often I see them for just 6"
The 6" Raging Bull seems to be a bit tougher, it has an additional lock and about the same weight for a slightly shorter barrel. It'll probably fit more standard holsters easier and it looks to be more aggressively ported. But at the same time, it says "RAGING BULL" in bloody enormous letters, and I can't say I'm thrilled with it.
The price is about the same either way, and I'm sure that either would be about the same as far as quality is concerned. So, gentlemen (and maybe ladies?), that is my dilemma. Any input?

Honest input?
Save a little more for a Ruger Redhawk or S&W (6)29.
As a former Taurus owner, I simply cannot recommend them. Their older pistols were fairly decent, but they seem to have gone downhill in the past ten years or so.

I agree. Had some bad experiences with Taurus lately Rugers are built like a tank and will take any loads you want to shoot through it.

Like the others have said...buy something else. I bought a brand new M44SS6 Taurus (just like the one in your link) and it was bad out of the box (cylinder timing and locking issue). I was going to send it back to them for the "amazing lifetime warranty" until I read the horror stories from actual owners over at Taurusarmed.net (you have to join for free to see the complaints section).
Overall the fit and finish was crap on the taurus...the grips were terrible (didn't even mate up in some pats), the frame had tooling and grinding marks all over...it was lackluster. I thought I could live with if figuring the price but finally came to my senses, convinced the seller to take it back and let me buy a Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Mag...that was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Their revolvers look cool in pictures with those large, ported barrels but in reality...they are problem prone junk.
In contrast, the Super Redhawk is built like a freaking tank...everything about it is made better (a one-on-one comparison will make this clear to you in 10 seconds).

I see where you're coming from. I have owned one Taurus revolver, a .22, and it did break after about 10k rounds. I had a phenomenally good experience with their customer service, it took less than a week from shipping it out to when it reappeared. However, I fired a Ruger today at the range, and I do understand what you mean about them. I may have to look at different options.

First choice is the Ruger, second choice is the S&W. I have owned both. The Taurus doesn't even make the list. I have not been impressed with any of the Taurus handguns that I have fired.

or a Blackhawk.
those things are probably one of the hardest guns to tear up ever.
the model 29 is a fantastic gun, but it's not near as durable as the Rugers are though. If it was a little more sturdy, it'd be the only option hands down.
Lookie here...
Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 4-5/8" Stainless $504.00 SHIPS FREE
Everyone should have at least one good Blackhawk
I'm tempted to trade in my blued 10.5" towards one of those...but I'd probably miss the massive bastard.

This is why I went with a SR instead of a S&W. The S&W is sexier, smoother and more refined but the Super Redhawk is built like a built like a brick crapper...you could literally be evil to that thing and it would hold up just fine. I also wanted the ability to fire those uber hot +P rounds Buffalo Bore makes...
Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of the looks the SR has...it's ok at best...nothing compared to what S&W makes. On the other hand, I decided to go with function over form. The SR does have a smooth trigger right out of the box and is also dead-nut accurate...

the newer 629's look pretty damn stout...but not Redhawk stout.
while the Ruger's trigger isn't bad...it's still not the smooth as glass pull on a good Smith.

I know...every now and then, I consider getting rid of my 10.5" SBH, yet it stays in the safe.
And, honestly...I prefer my Anaconda to all other .44's I have...but it's hard to recommend one.
