This is a bullshit debate and nobody will be shooting through the windshield w/o a trip to the pokey!!! Who ******* cares if the PD changed to 9mm due to penetration cause your not the POLICE!!! 38 will get it done just as sure as anything else.... I hate these damn caliber and balistics debates cause they are all bullshit!!!

As I walk out the door right now to take the family out for dinner, there is a S&W 442 in the pocket of my Carharrts, because it's the biggest thing that fits (and I don't feel like IWB carry tonight, but in that case it would still be "just" a 9mm).
A .38 snub doesn't make me feel under-gunned to go to a family-restaurant in the suburbs. I use Remington R38S12, as it is a fairly good example of the "classic FBI load":
Remington Centerfire Pistol Cartridges R38S12, 38 Special + P, Lead Hollow Point, 158 GR, 890 fps, 5

Bringing back a long dead thread.
The "Classic FBI" load has been bettered a long time ago why use something that was state of the art 30 years ago just because it was good back then. Advances in bullet design have come a long way, go with a modern HP that meets FBI protocol. If we used that kind of reasoning we would still be using lead round nose bullets because they seemed to worked just fine way back when.

I only use that old-timey load because I don't plan on shooting through windshields from the inside  with my .38 snub. You can have at it.

It's not about shooting through glass its about terminal performance which the old load does not have. You have to have reliable penetration and expansion new loads do it much better.

Or are you saying that if I was in a situation that would legally meet all criteria for use of deadly force, that a piece of glass intervening would guarantee me a "trip to the pokey"? If so, substantiate.
