Revolver recommendations
I am looking for a .357 revolver to qualify for my CHL Instructor's license. I am looking at a maybe a S&W 686 or a Ruger SP101. What are your thoughts?
Edit: What about the Taurus model 66?

Ruger's a tank and a little cheaper....the Smith and Wesson's trigger can't be beat.
price would probably be the biggest factor here...you CAN smooth up a Ruger's trigger...I have no idea how it would compare to a Smith though.

The Ruger is a less aethetically pleasing tank. The Smith 686 is a piece of art. I would go down to a local gun store and see how either one fits in your hand.

Might want to step up the the Ruger GP if you want to compare to the 686.

This is true; the GP100 is a more apple-to-apple comparison to the S&W 686.
In any case, any of the 3 mentioned would be fine guns. In my opinion, the S&W is the more beautiful gun, while the Rugers get the nod for drop-dead reliability and strength.

I'd throw the Taurus out of the running if you have the money for either the S&W or the Ruger(s). Taurus just has too many complaints for me to trust them. My opinion, of course.
Check any internet gun forum for complaints on a Ruger GP or SP revolver. You simply won't find anything substantial. Now try it for Taurus.........
