Question Can you recommend a good .22 revolver?

I have been bitten by the revolver bug and am seeking one in .22 flavor. So far I have looked at Smith and Wesson, Ruger, and Taurus. I'd like a S&W because of the quality but they sure are alot more than a Taurus (duh). It will be used primarily for target shooting at the range, so I need something accurate.

1. It must have atleast 6" barrel

Any good recommendations? Any I should stay away from?

Thanks in advance

You didn't say what type of revolver. Taurus is a fine revolver for a "Kit gun' in .22 LR. Single action Ruger BearCats are the BOMB though! Love that thing!

That's the single six correct? How is the trigger on those?

I was in your situation last year, I looked at all the models, and tried to do as much research as I could. I decided I wanted a S&W, either an older K series or the newer one. The prices that folks were wanting for good used K17s was too much. I got lucky and found a 617-6 10 shot with 6" barrel locally. This thing is sweeeeeeet. Way more accurate than I am. I put a BSA red dot on it for fun (was on my 10/22), and cutting the X out a 25' is too easy.

This is about 70-80 rounds at 25', using bulk ammo.

The Ruger Single Six is a slightly bigger version of the Bearcat, but it's a rather good trigger. I'm a Ruger man for revolvers. Own quite a few. Mainly? Because I can field strip them, and clean them WELL!

That is sweet. Do you have to drill and tap the top to accomodate the rail?

Good to know, thank you.

My wife's grandfather has one he bought a few years ago that he has never shot. He keeps talking about selling it so I'll probably be able to get it from him for around $250.

Are the grips easy to change on those? I was thinking maybe some Hogues? ---Edited--- just did some research, seems fairly easy to change the grips.
