Went out and bought GTA4 today!! finally sat down to play it and when I turn of my xbox i get the 3 red lights...again! I just got the damn thing back for the same problem less that a month ago....this will be my 3rd console...figures... So pissed.

I've had my 360 for 6 months now with no problems. I got one of the newer ones...where all the problems are fixed.

It probably helps that I typically don't use it for more then 2 hours at once.

Want to sell me GTA IV?

well the good thing that 'should' come out of this is that on your second RRoD return you get the falcon 65nm 360.

My buddy, his brother and their close friend all had this happen to them and on their 2nd warranty return they received the falcon 360s.

which I bought, but they have had theirs much longer than mine. I waited to buy my elite to make sure I got a version from Lot734 or higher.

Sucks that it happend right before you could play GTA4 though. the game kicks ass.

I am on my second. My first lasted exactly 2 years to the month. It took 37 days to get my 360 back because my box took so long to receive. They said I was part of a shipping glitch.

The 360 support rep said the reason they were failing is they should not be plugged into a power strip because it limits the power required to operate. He said to plug it directly in the wall and leave it on an hour before ever playing it. I did. Fine for now, well see. Good Luck. My good friend is on his third and EVERY friend I have locally with a 360 has had the ring and sent it in.....

Here is a trick about teh red ring of death. Turn the xbox on and cover it with a towel and let it run. Doesn't take too long but it will overheat again and should shut down. When you turn it back on it will play. It might cut out again now and then but at least you can squeeze some extra time out of it. I have done it, it works, not great but does work. I believe it is on youtube as well. I sold my 360 to get me a PS3 and I couldn't be happier.

plus dont get too up, PS3s are coming into their error stage mainly due to firmware issues not chip overheating.

I noticed that the PS3 version was a little blurry, but that may have been my eyes. I was tired when I was watching a buddy play his on PS3.(i'll be getting one sooner or later, mainly cause it costs the same as a standalone Blu-ray player)

about the plugging it into the wall... dont think I'd plug anything that costs me more than 100$ directly into a wall socket. sorry but I'd rather get a RRoD than frying it in a powersurge.

I have a monster powersupply/surgeprotector that has seperate supply for TV, DVD/CD player, Audio receiver and Gaming system. and I wouldnt dare not use it.

but fear not, you'll be getting a Falcon chip 360 next. and the good times will continue.

the box I got back has a MFR of 11-30-2006 so I highly doubt I got the falcon chipset.......
