So, i get back from my test in history today. I have some extra time. Im thinking I'm gonna relax, veg a little, play some COD 4. . .i go to turn on my Xbox 360, which i had played the night before. . and BAM three rings baby. Its under warranty! but now comes the 3-4 week turn around time! sweet! I love microsoft!

Funny, mine just did the same thing this week. I've had it off the internet for a few weeks and hooked it back up last week. It did an XBOX Live download and since then would constantly crash in COD4 and Halo 3. It would work fine if I killed the internet connection, but would crash if it was online.

I figured Microsoft F'ed up and would be releasing another download to fix it, but then the RROD came and now - no luck.

Same happened to mine in under 24hrs. I added an industrial electronic cooling rack fan that pushes 410cfm (that's alot), about 3 inches behind the unit.

Gotta keep them XBox360's cool!!!!! They overheat badly and fry when you turn them off after hrs of continuous use and then let sit. The heat builds up and frys the motherboard..

Microsoft was good....they told me to TAKE it back to the retailer and exchange it since I didn't even have a chance to fill out the warranty card yet.

Since I added the fan....NP so-far...and hey the fan keeps all the equipment in my entire entertainment center cool - little noisy....so I crank up the surround sound....and when I'm done I let the fan run for about another 20min to ensure the heat is dissapated.

Had my red rings back in November. The lead time was four weeks total, from the time they sent me the empty box until the unit arrived. It wasn't a bad deal for me. I bought my 360 used from eBay and while I has happy with it it wasn't in all that great exterior condition. The unit MS sent back was a brand new one in excellent condition. They also comped me for one month of XBOX Live.

I've checked the codes its throwing. it looks like its probably an overheating thing. I havent thought about it overheating after I turned it off though. . . it makes sense though, my Xbobx gets warm, it gets played a LOT (by me and some friends i let use it.. Typically for an hour or two at a time at. Just waiting for the box to get here now. Hopefuly it gets back here to school before the semester is out!!

WARNING, be prepared for a longer wait. I got my red rings after exactly 2 years of ownership. Weeks of combined playing time. I placed my repair ordered March 5th 08, still have not received the box to send my 360 back after 3 phone calls. Im calling back today.....

I just called them again today, and talked to a supervisor (well the first time the girl "Kat" could tell I was pissed off and ending up hanging up on me). They are in India BTW. Anyhow, I finally spoke to a supervisor and they told me they have been having computer issues (this is Microsoft mind you) and the boxes have not been shipping. They offered me only free month of XBoxLive Gold and a free game. Dont get to excited it was the same version of Project Gotham racing that came with my XBOX in 2006. But its on the way supposedly.
