Quake 3 Arena!

Well, I thought I'd post my "regular" game to see if anyone else plays this classic from ID Software. I try to play at least one game every night. It's my therapy.

Anyone up for some multiplayer deathmatch action? Let me know!

Cool. I won't have time for a while, but once I can get up and running (if my game still works), I might play. Fair warning I play dirty though-- especially if I can get my hands on the Railgun.

I played quake for about 12-14 years of my life...I'm not sure if I can convince myself to reinstall...I had the alpha version of Quake I...I used to multi player doom II as well.

I play a game based on the Quake engine.........Star Trek Voyager Elite Force. Though I think all the servers have been shutdown for this. I have yet to see a freakin' online game for that yet.

Dirty, huh? That's fine. I'll frag you no matter what. I don't need no stinkin' railgun.

Would a few XDtalk members playing a friendly game of Q3A together convince you to reinstall?

Why is that? Was there a serious problem?

Plus, aren't most games based on the Quake engine? Isn't the code public domain now? I have a copy of the code that I got from somewhere....

I might reinstall, I'm just afraid this pc won't play it anymore. I need to build a new gaming pc, I sold my last one. I have had a problem in the past with addiction to games due to people "needing" me to play in so many matches. I assume if it is just for a few casual quake rounds from time to time I can do that. My problem with quake is that I take it way too seriously, I am very technical when I play to the point that I control the entire map. I have been accused of hacking because I always know exactly when items respawn, etc...It seemed like when I quit playing QIII people were playing accelerated versions and not traditional dm. I'm also a pro at instagib/instarail. I rarely miss.

I will try to install it maybe this weekend, but then again my trigger finger itches just thinking about a railgun.

I played it on my old Pentium II and it worked just fine (w/ a cable modem). I don't think we'll "need" you to play in a certain number of matches; I'm definitely talking about just a fun couple of games amongst XDtalk friends. I'm fairly good at it, although of course it depends on what server I play on: on some I'm in the top 5, on others I get my a$$ handed to me. But, for me, it's all about having fun, making friends, and a bit of therapy.

Hope to see you in Quakeland someday.

Installing now, what all do I need? Do they use in game server browser still? Wouldn't hurt to post a "favorite" server ip. Do you have X-Fire?

I would be willing to play but don't have quake. Anyone up for some urban terror??? From what I hear it's a little more "realistic" than the quake games.
