Well, since I've set everything up, I've been playing UT 4.1 almost nightly (either during dinner or as a break from work). I tend to stay on Free-For-All or Survivor or Team Survivor servers. I'm not too big on CTF.

I use Xfire to help me find servers, then log onto a server via ioUrbanTerror. Trying to join a game via Quake 3 Arena (and then loading the UT mod) does NOT work for me. You'll find me on Xfire as daveindelaware, but I don't play under that name in UT.

I've learned a lot since starting to play this game online:

1. You'll almost always respawn right in someone's crosshairs.
2. You'll certainly be picked off by a sniper if you stand still for >0.18 seconds.
3. Always check your 6!!! (and your 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11,12 too!)
4. There will always be someone in the game WAY better than you.
5. They will always be on the OTHER team.
6. Watch your ammo supply. It's bad to run out of ammo in the middle of a fire fight.
7. Remember to use bandages BEFORE you bleed to death.
8. The Tac Goggles are more trouble than they're worth.
9. Wearing body armor weighs you down.
10. Wearing a helmet is a good thing.
11. Laser sights give your position away
12. You can't shoot what you can't see.
13. Some people use knives exclusively. These people are crazy and should be avoided.
14. Some people play the game 24/7. They're awesome. You're not. Deal w/ it.
15. You CAN die from being shot in the foot. Check under vehicles!
16. If you hear what sounds like a metal can falling onto the ground, RUN!!!
17. If you feel like you're sitting still compared to others, you probably are.
18. Did I mention KEEP MOVING!!?
19. If it's you vs. 3+ enemies in a fire fight, just lay down. It's easier.
20. The SR-8 is a good sniper rifle, but it's not a FAST sniper rifle.
21. Dying by "doing the lemming thing" is NOT a good way to die.
22. Dying by being sliced by someone's knife isn't, either.
23. And neither is being "pistol whipped"!!
24. If someone tells you to "bleed!" then it's probably too late to use a bandage.
25. Higher ground = upper hand
26. Lower ground = just closer to your grave
27. Getting to the higher ground is the challenge
28. Someone will probably already be at the higher ground that you were going for.
29. One Shot, One Kill is good only if YOU do it to someone else.
30. Crouching on the ground does NOT prevent a bullet from going through your helmet

Yeah I like it also.

The PSG-1 seems to be the better sniper rifle on medium sized maps. The SR-8 just doesn't load fast enough.

I also wish that they had the ability to aim down the sights of the weapons without scopes.

It also took me a while to find out what the "bandage" button was and that you could heal teammates even without a med kit (up to 40% health with the medkit you can go to 90%).

I'd like to be able to "use both eyes" w/ the scopes, that way you could still use your peripheral vision while looking through the scope.

When do you usually play UT??? Will you be on at all over the weekend?

Probably wind up being on this weekend. I haven't played for probably a week or so.

I still play this game a few times per week, usually during dinnertime (or into the later evenings).

I really love this game; it's basically a "real life" Quake 3 Arena. And it's stand-alone now, too (you don't need Q3A). Version 4.1 is much better than 3.

You can learn a LOT just by playing for a little while.

What servers do you guys play on?? I like the |ALPHA| server (for FFA) the most (usually I can get a good ping), and a few others (will list later)...

OK, WTF is wrong with gaming people nowadays?? I've been playing online under the same name since Quake1 came out. And I'm definitely not one to camp at all. I keep moving (unless a defensive move is called for), and sometimes get a lucky shot in.

But lately, I've been getting kicked off of servers left and right and it's really starting to pi$$ me the f--k off!!!

I've been accused/blamed for camping, for spawn camping, for being an aimbot, even for being "gay," and for being a newbie. All of which I AM NOT!!!

WTF!!!??

Just tonight I was playing on a server for 10 minutes, no problems, when suddenly there was a vote to kick me "because my name was a play on words for a bot." Give me a f--king break!!!

I have noticed that I get kicked a lot when I'm winning, or when I'm catching up to the leader really fast. Or if I hear someone coming up behind me I'll duck around a corner and pistol whip him. Tactics? Yup. But these mofo's call it "camping" and kick me.

I really love playing this game, but when I join a server and the first thing I see is a vote to kick me before I even start shooting, it really makes my blood boil and I start hating the game and all the players in it.

Pretty soon there won't be any servers to play on, because they're all full of immature sore loser babies.
