All your abilities can be used from the main character if your squad mates have a high hacking skills for instance. I usually have garrus or tali in my party for that reason.

hmmm.
Still playing through for the first time and everything I come across it says my skill is too low.
I'll figure this one out.

Just beat the game on the normal setting.

About 13 hours of gameplay.

Up next to beat : Dead Rising.

Absolutely incredible.

One of the best RPGs I've played in a while

Combat took a little while to get used to, but once you got the hang of it was engaging and fun.

Storyline was great.

Anyone else get the Paramour acheivement

Have you guys heard of Cooper Lawrence? She made bad comments about the game during a TV interview and the gaming community got pissed.

Article about it.

Reviews of her book on Amazon.com

Reading the reviews on Amazon was entertaining.

I'll have to admit, though I'm just a casual player and not a hardcore gamer, I was kinda peeved by her mischaracterization of the game and of people who play video games.
She freely admitted she never even saw the game before she spouted her judgement on T.V., and we are supposed to trust that her book is well thought-out and researched.

I'm on my 2d playthrough and I must agree with the switching between squad members thing. My wife and I are huge KOTOR fans and I'm surprised that BioWare didn't keep this feature in this game.

I find my squad members most useful by sending them out in front of me to draw fire while I sneak around and flank.

Yeah, it is fun to switch them,or go in solo mode.
I finished the game a while ago (haven't played a second time, COD4), and newKid was right, the whole group's stats and skills are totaled up together so there is no need to switch to accomplish tasks, but I still miss the feature.

One other thing was that you can't change your group or transit back to the ship in the pause menu like KOTOR, but I guess it wouldn't work, story and game play wise, in Mass Effect.

I also found that the others in your group are much less useful in a fight than those of KOTOR, but that is mitigated by the use of third person shooter style game play over the real time turn based style. What I miss from KOTOR is if you die and someone in your party is still alive you take over as that character and keep going, and if you win the fight your character comes back; in Mass Effect when you die that's it.

I still love the game though.

I thought it looked pretty cool on GameSpot, but I haven't played it yet. May wait for the PC version to release

Was skeptical at first, but bought it used for $30. Damned fine game!

You really gotta play it more than once to 'really' appreciate the squad/talents/upgrades. In the higher difficulties, I started to opted for more of the shield bypassing upgrades as well as the lesser-used biotics such as Stasis to really help dictate the outcome of a fight.
