I have an original XBOX that was bought refurbed for cheap,[99 bucks] and I have had 0 problems with it for over 6 years.
My new 360 has had no issues at all, and it's been used HARD for a year and a half now. For the sake of the discussion, I also have my PS2 AND my N64 that all still work just fine. Maybe the gamer gods just hate you guys. |

I feel that the gamer gods have been kind to me as well. I still have my old dreamcast that works fine, my psone has finally died and my turbografx16 also died last year. my genesis, nes, snes and sega mastersystem all still work. i'm sure whomever stole my 360 isn't having any problems with it either. to each their own, some ppl have had bad experiences with the 360 and hate'em. others are fanboys of one or the other and will always hate the system that isn't their own. some just don't want to deal with the possibility that the 360 can die on you so if the PS3's game catalog is fine then why bother.

Heck, everything might die tomorrow, but I will be happy with the performance I have gotten out of all my machines.
I played "Goldeneye" last night for 2 hours. Still a great game. |

From the menu where you select to play game it says game options I believe and it asks if you want to install to hard drive. It runs a bit wuicker and quieter due to disc drive not spinning which will make the system last longer in theory.

CoD4 will not see much difference in load times for MP basically because of the internet lag. meaning you will see that you are loaded maybe 3-5 seconds faster but you still wait for everyone else to sync up on client side hosting. I think as these games go further you might see 360 exclusive games take advantage of this but for multi-platform games it really doesn't make all that much difference. infinity ward isn't going to spend extra time on a singular platform for a game like CoD.
