Wlc
i am active duty army and graduated yesterday from WLC(warrior leader course A.K.A PLDC) it is 30 days here in germany. i am curious if any other soldiers on here have been through the course in the recent past and what your opinions are on the course. IMO i feel that i definately learned some things and that a good portion of the training was worthwhile and will overall make me a better leader, but as far as the "basic-esque" i think its garbage. Dont get me wrong discipline refreshers are needed every now and then, but then again a soldier should know when and where the discipline is needed.

I graduated in Feb of this year and most of what I learned there was stuff I already knew. The "basic-esque" treatment you get is nothing more than hazing(as you get some of the same treatment at bncoc, anoc, and according to my CSM SMA too yet I don't know if I quite believe what he told me), call it a "Remember where you came from", yet was pretty scaled back from what it had been in the past, even as little as 6 months prior. Being the winter at Sill there were less "projects" to do after class was done for the day, but no one was dismissed until everything was done, so there was still a bunch of wasted time doing nothing.
You are in Germany, here in the states they started doing 14day cycles of WLC,(at Sill it's still 30, which I did), but everything is at a much higher pace, as they cram almost the whole 30 day course into half, increasing stress, but that may be coming to an end and going back to 30 days. Supposedly, from now on(don't know when it started), if you are married you don't have to stay in the WLC barracks unless you are late to a formation or class, etc. One thing I have a problem with is that they cut your Seperate rats if you are married to pay for you eating in the dfac, so that was some BS I had to deal with. Also, some SGL's have obviously been there too long and don't know how to hold the same standards that the students are held too. I don't mean smoking, or talking, I mean standards of an NCOA,cheating, SGL's, and students(married even), messing around with students. Apparently it has been a rough year at the Ft. Sill NCOA as it has been controversy after controversy, and many have been relieved, replaced. I'm just glad it is over with.
