I agree, I used to teach 12 Bravo courses to various MOS's as part of changing MOS's to 12B. We had several 11B's think they were pretty tough until we sent them through 12 B school and had to think. I loved to do engineer drills and have the 11B's do the relay and watch them screw it up. About that time in training they wanted to go back to 11 B cuz they realized how much rear end was hanging out if you had to do it. Not only the relay but bridging and obstacles all potentially under fire. Which is why almost all the roads on D-Day were named after CBT Engineers.

My last position was SSG over A&O in our support platoon. Talk about explosives we did a lot of demo. Plus got out of a lot of BS duty and missions like putting in fence ect...

Take it a step further....do it in the water. Engineer Divers. Numbers are roughly equal with Army Engineer Divers (Ft. Eustis and Ft. Shafter) and Seabee Underwater Construction Technicians (NBVC and NABLC).

Hey Wayfinder good to see another Engineer in Raleigh. We should go shooting and get a beer sometime and then swap some lies. (from one old Engineer to another) Sappers lead the way.

My step-son is leaving Aug 14 for Ft. Leonard Wood BCT and then AIT Combat Engineer (21B).

His mom and I are very proud of him but also worried for his safety.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him as well as with all our Warriors.

I was assigned to the 23rd. Combat Engineer BN. 3rd Armor Div. in 1967,
tough job.
