They say i need to be able to do 100 push ups, 175 sit ups, and 2 pull ups, and they say you should be able to run 1mile in 5mile or less, i was frecked when i ran 1mile in 6min and that was pushing it any was this summers going to be fun. I see alot of people bitching about it but its like hallo what did you exspect the BG are in prison right now lifting waghts so they can destroy you, you realy think that the gov is just going to let you be a fat jelly donut eater, some of the people are dumb, they tell you this stuff all through the selection process and still there where people at the PT eval going "man i didnt know it was going to be like that". ????? these are the ones that get me, you know its coming they tell you and you dont get ready for it WTF. any ways thats my rant, ive been running 3 to 6 miles every day for six months and i know im not ready for july but then again i dont think you can prepair for hell. The officers say its like marin boot camp mixed with college courses for six months.
I sincerely hope that between now and July you work really hard on your English skills. Or perhaps since it is Kalifornia your Spanish skills.

I think the important thing is that PT enforces a common standard. Might not fit everyone but in LEO and mil the Team is the most important aspect of life and you are only as strong as your weakest memeber. By having PT and PT standards the leader at least a rough baseline to build of.

There is a guy I work with over 200 lbs and not at all fit looking and he runs his 1.5 miles in 9:40! He looks like Fred Flintstone, but he hauls! It's funny to watch him lap the "skinny" guys like me.

I struggle to keep it under 11, but I hardly ever run.

Former Navy here, and I thought PT sucked because it extended my workday by quite a bit in port. Supposedly it was supposed to be on the boats time but if we get started on maintenance at 10am instead of at 730am, then tough luck, you're there till the jobs done (usually around 6-7pm).
Plus, there was quite a bit of grumbling among us since we were submariners and from stern to aft was around 350ft and thats as far as any of us had to run I still got at least 10:30 for a mile and a half on a bad day, usually around 10 minutes consistently throughout my career. I used to be around 9 minutes fresh out of high school but a sub lifestyle got rid of that quickly.
