Congrats, looks like you will most likely be F/A-18 or Harrier huh. One piece of advice when you write up gripes on your jet. DONT WRITE LIKE A 2 YEAR OLD, your a college educated(?) individual act like. I cant tell you how many times I have read a MAF with some unintelligible garbage that makes absolutely no sense and tells the maintenance guys who have to fix the crap. And there is alot to do down there around Corpus and South PI.

My favorite MAFs are "Part X worn remove and replace."

OKAYYYYYYYY. WTF is broken on it? What part on this piece of gear is broken?

Yeah no sh*t. I have seen a few good ones. Let me share:

RADAR no workie.
RDR Degrade but worked ok in flight.
Discrpeancy:
RADAR acted up entire flight.
Corrective Action:
Gave RADAR a timeout and act right. RFI.

We got an APU (APP on the rotary wing side) in one day with a discrepancy of:

I usually try and make sure the MAFs I write up make some sort of sense. And if all else fails, when I turn the aircraft back into Aircraft Issue, I tell them what the problem was and ask how I should write it up. I've seen some pretty interesting MAFs. I saw one and I quote...."Torn butt panel at screw hole". I can't remember the corrective action but it must be a real bad day if your butt panel is torn at your screw hole...

Thats a good one too. So what do you want once you finish Jet training. F/A-18 or Harriers. If you go Harriers in the next 10 years you will have to transition to F-35's. If you go 18's you wont for quite some time. And they are awesome. Harriers are older mind you. And their Avionics arent always the best. We get some pretty screwed up stuff in our shop from them. Like major stuff like the flight control computers. Not something I want goin bad in an unstable aircraft. Have fun landing on the flat tops and dont F up.
