Well, I was "deployed" to southern California. For OEF/OIF, I was at March Air Reserve Base, out by Riverside loading USMC Gear on C-5's and C-17's, and Marines onto Civilian Airliners. I may have sent a few of you off, or welcomed you home. Half of my unit was sent to the sandbox, and half of us had to stay and handle Arrival/Departure Airfield Control. Makes for kind of a wierd situation after our unit was reunited, as no one ever volunteered to stay behind, they just sent one platoon abroad and kept one in SoCal. Half of our company wished we had been there, and some of the guys that went wished they hadn't.

You Air Force guys have it easy! I did 1 tour and my deployment was for 12 months in country and 3 months of mobilization training before the war started for a total of 15 months. You've been deployed 3 times and are still 6 months behind.

Just kidding you. We're all on the same team, just using slightly different rules.

Yeah, different rules...I think the majority of it comes from our manning. We aren't quite as befuddled as the army and marines becasue we have very few combat losses compared to you guys. No infantry in the USAF, you know?

I was at Al-Udeid AB from July 05 - October 05, the short tour due to the three other units that made up our AEF rotation. We can break it up like that.

Hats off to the ground pounders though, you guys do a tough and underappreciated job. 127*F average was hot for us on the flightline trying to get combat ready aircraft off the ground, but I bet it gets a helluva lot hotter when you're getting shot at...

Still, it's an awesome feeling seeing our '16s loaded up with live munitions, then coming back completely empty. You KNOW that someone just got their day fu*ked up.

I was in Iraq from 2004-2005, while deployed I was doing convoy security attached to the 1st ID & 5th SFG. I was wounded by an IED on Dec. 31 2004, and later discharged from the Army. I returned to the US Military in April of 2006 when I joined the Kansas Air National Guard.

What was your MOS?

I was in Desert storm as a 16R and converted to a 16S shortly after we returned.
