I beleive he was saying that Mister XD's statement sounds an awful lot like the same crap the Anti-Gun people spew.

Now lets change that to a statement about guns:

Now does that sound open minded to you???

I got a whole bunch of usless knowledge and found out who is mature and who is not.

Thank you. If any one has something to add that is on topic please feel free.

From what I have heard if you are straight forward about drug use they will not fault you too much. I have known people that got waivers to go into the marines the one that rings a bell is a old coworker of mine got a waiver for doing mushrooms.

Im willing to bet he sidestepped the question because there are no hard and fast rules on drug usage.

You can receive drug waivers for past use. You will be tested at MEPS and regularly thereafter. If you've only dabbled in pot, you're ok. If you have had legal troubles due to drug use, you need to be extremely straightforward with it. If not, it will get found out and you will be sent home. Certain drug use and timeframes of said usage may potentially impact your ability to receive a security clearance (SCI and above). Unless you're going into an MOS that requires an extremely high clearance, you won't be facing a poly.

Bottom line, if you use now, stop. When you're asked about it, be honest. What we do is predicated in a large part upon a person's integrity. If you start playing games with your integrity on your way in, you're going to find yourself going home early and under adverse conditions.

Like Diver and a few others have said. So long as you havent been in legal trouble due to drug use you are ok. My recruiter told me not to say anything about my experimentation with pot and I did anyway. I still got a Secret clearance and havent heard anything about it since I came in.

To BillBrasky:
Most likely you werent turned away because you took Ritalin. It was more than likely because you have or had ADD or ADHD. That is something the military is tough on. Thankfully they dont know about my ADHD. Did you see that bike.

If all you have done is smoked some weed, then you have nothing to worry about. I "know a guy" that smoked a little weed in his time, and now has a TS/SCI clearance. He was just honest about it. They are alot harder on guys with debt and credit problems than a guy that smoked some reefer back in high school.

If you were into some of the harder stuff (meth, LSD, booger sugar, whatever), I don't know what to tell you.

Lets just say in theory that a person used in the past. My advice would be make sure you are TOTALLY over and done with it. Because if you aren't and are susceptible to use and do, accept now you are a Marine, you are quite possibly boned in a really bad way that would have never happend if you were still a civilian. My 2c.

Yup if you use while in service you are screwed and that is an understatement. Kiss all your benefits goodbye, say hi to the brig for a few months don't let the door hit your ass in the way out. Say you have a knee injury or something while serving you can kiss all those VA benifits goodbye also.

Out of all the people I have seen pop on the piss tests I've only seen on guy get given a "second chance" after getting knocked down from a Sgt. to a Cpl. then from a Cpl. To a LCPL on a NCO competence board. Would have been in the clear if he wouldn't have used again and popped on the next piss test. He was a moron to say the least the Marine Corps is a better place without him. Now he's out last listed rank is PVT and he looses everything he could have gotten and now has to list "Dishonorable" on all his job applications. Which limits him to the hottest and noisiest jobs on the planet.
