When they do fly... Usually a B1 bomber takes of right after it.

Just in the last 60 days we prevented an ambush on the Marines, British choppers, Army convoys, and many many others.

We are a team. Just like any team there is always that look of someone that doesn't pull their weight. Just because I carry a tool box instead of a rifle doesn't mean my job is any less than yours.

Remember me the next time you get an air drop of supplies.

Remember the chubby supply girl cutting through the red tape to get me my parts so the Recon bird can get off the ground.

Remember the Arabic translator translating the intel she gets in the recon plane.

Remember that the next time you think we don't pull our weight.

Walk a mile in my shoes and I will walk a mile in yours.
Bud, you don't have to sell me. I respect all branches of the service. Air Force is very important part of the equation.

However, I am still going to ride my brother-in-law into the ground because he is an Air Force firefighter, and I took him shooting and he couldn't operate an AR-15. THAT'S PRETTY BAD!! And his pistolmanship was right out the window!!! LOL!!!

Marines undergo a gene therapy process where their bodies are reconstructed to translate arrogance into a marksmanship-inducing hormone. They take regular doses of arrogance-enhancing steroids to make them the greatest fighting force this side of the galactic core.

It's true. I read it on the internet.

You hit that right on the head. I was in for 5 years and it is instilled on you from day one. Sure it may seem disrespectful to other branches, but it's what makes us Marines.

You hear the Marines' reputation before you enlist and it only makes you want to live up to it.

Totally!! I can say that from experience as a non-combat Marine myself.

All marines go through the same 13 week bootcamp, because all Marines are first and foremost: "Riflemen". Afterwards, non-combat marines are sent through a fairly short Marine Combat Training, then they go to their MOS school (Military Occupational Specialty).

Combat Marines don't go through that quick MCT. Since their MOS is combat, they spend all their time training at the School of Infantry (SOI) learning much more about their combat role (machine guner, mortarman, etc.). Those Marines come out of SOI with the mindset that they are a much more elite group than non-combat Marines.

Exactly. We're running as a department of the Navy and don't have nearly as much money to blow on nice crap as other branches. I've spent time on army/navy bases that always had nicer/newer builings, barracks and equipment.

We still make the most of what we can get our hands on!!

Well, all I can say to this post, is that I have grown up.

I respect all of our troops, no matter what uniform.

Recently, I was at our local Mexican restaurant. I looked over and saw a family having a celebration dinner with their Marine son, who was home on leave from Iraq. He was wearing his BDU's. They had balloons and a cake, etc, and I heard their overly loud glee, talking about him FINALLY being home. I noticed he was drinking a Dos Equix beer. I told the waiter that I wanted to buy his dinner and another beer on me. When the waiter told him this, his father said "Nope, this is my party. But thanks." I asked the dad "Is your boy going to be home for a while?" He replied that his boy would be home for a few weeks. I told him that since he gets to see his son for the next few weeks, he has plenty of opportunity to buy his lunch and dinner. His dad replied "fair enough". I threw his meal and beer on my bill and left without making any further ado. Sounds like quite the story, but it is true, and I did it not happen too long ago, and I will be doing it again when the timing is right.

I don't care what uniform you are wearing, or what your M.O.S. is, or whether you found Weapons of Mass Destruction. If you are serving our country, and contributing to the TEAM that is our armed forces, I got your next drink. If I find out you have been in combat, I got your next meal, and if you need a place to lay your head for a while, let me know that too. Phuckin LEAST I could do.

Good deal. I've gotten a few free beers here and there.

Now to put my Marine hat on-
If he was in a restaurant off base and was in Digital Cammies he needs someone to plant a boot firmly in his ass. Service or Dress uniforms are one thing Digital Cammies are a big time no no. I don't like the no cammies off base thing but that's a direct order from the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

I didn't want to say anything, but I was thinking the same thing.

ONCE, I tried to go into a Walmart real quick and didn't even make it in the door. A marines' WIFE called me out in the parking lot. She was like: "Where the f*ck do you think you're going? I hope you don't think you're about to walk inside walmart with that uniform on!"

Needless to say, I never considered going out in my cammies ever again.
