Was watching the news and wondered if those we are at war with (Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.) respect medics and don't shoot at or try to kill medics or the transport they are in (anything with the big red cross on it)? What about past wars (Vietnam, WWII, WWI, others)? Is this something that is part of rules of combat?
Thanks for your service.

Medics dont wear the arm bands really anymore and for the most part are combatants.
I dont know if it is "legal" but its happening. And no terrorist dont usually care if you are a 90 year old great grandma or a 18 year old Marine

Medics dont wear armbands anymore.
They were the same uniform and carry a weapon just like everyone else.

CLS (combat life savers) are nice, but they are no where near the scope of a medic. There have been multiple reports of medics being specifically targeted because they know the importance of taking out the support structure within a unit. The LOAC (law of armed combat) says that medical personal and their equipment are non-combatants, but i can't remember a single instance when any one cared about that.

Army guy45, if you know that a CLS is nowhere near as good as a medic, why would you make a statement like that?
I trained hundreds of CLS during my 12 yrs and none of them had the understanding of what a human body goes thru when wounded, there where a handfull, no more than 10 if I remember them all, that had a light above, and they eventually changed MOS's becoming medics, but apart from that, Combat Infantry Medics KATN. BTW I really like your avatar Jose |

They use handicap people to commit suicide bombings, do you think they care if you have a red + painted on your vehicle?
