civilians CCW'ing on an AF base
I've got an upcoming appt with a Lt. Col. in the Air Force to get his perspective on the Air Force (so i can decide whether or not i want to join). when i can't carry with me into the building that i'm going to enter, i usually leave the xd in the car. Now, seeing as how i'll be passing through a security gate/checkpoint, I'm assuming i'll be asked if i have any weapons.
So for those of you that might already know, how does it work with civilians carrying concealed onto a base? is it totally forbidden? or can you keep it in your car while you go into the building? or can you even leave it at the security checkpoint until you leave? thanks!

Well, I separate the mag from the weapon and place them in separate locked locations (Mag in glove, and pistol in center). But as far as carrying, no you cannot carry. You might want to call the Security Forces desk and asked what the reg is for bringing a weapon on base. Most times it is just a matter of separating the weapon from the ammo.

All Air Force bases that I have been on (I retired after 24 years) no one is allowed to cary a firearm unless it has been issued to them by the armor on base. You do run the risk of them inspection your car when you enter or exit the base. People can take a firearm on base but you must take it to the base armory and store it there till you are ready to leave base. I hope this helps

Nope. You can't carry on military bases and your vehicle is subject to search at any time. Even as you exit the base.

You can carry a weapon in your car on base (not bicycle) as long as going to base housing (not dorms) or to the base armory to check in your weapon. You have to notify the gate guard on the time you enter that you have a weapon in the vehicle. Not 100% if this is Air Force wide, but it was what I read recently before purchasing a gun at my current base.

You, along with us active military folks, are forbidden to carry a concealed weapon on a military installation.
You are only allowed to carry to and from a range and the weapon must be unloaded and the ammo seperate from the weapon in a seperate part of the vehicle. This goes for rifles, shotguns and pistols. If you want specific info regarding a certain installation, contact the Military Police or the Provost Marshall at that specific installation.

The Law Enforcement Armory is the designated storage facility for privately owned weapons and ammunition not authorized for retention by owners. Personnel residing in base housing may keep their weapons and ammunition in their quarters or store them in the LE Armory. Individuals living in temporary quarters, lodging, or the dormitories must register and store privately owned weapons in the Armory. You can check out your weapons temporarily, but they must be returned within 72 hours, unless you’re going on leave or temporary duty, or have written permission from your first sergeant or commander.Concealed weapons permits issued by civil authorities are not valid on Kirtland AFB without the expressed written consent of the installation commander. If you bring a firearm on base, you must inform the gate guard of the intended use and destination. The weapon must be unloaded and not

Do not even attempt it. Don't even bring it with you in the car.

Ccdw
Just dont bring it or leave it in the car. I have a CCDW and I have been in the Army 9 years (SFC) I have been to several bases with my XD40SC and most at the gate dont even ask but if they do tell them yes u have a weapon and what and where it is and if it is loaded or not. What is the rules of the state you live in. Kentucky it is legal to have a pistol in your vehical but not loaded and in the glove box, but with a CCDW it can be loaded and any where in the car or on your person. When I get to the gate I usualy have it in the center console. Just be honest at the gate and you will be fine.
