females in combat

ok a friend of mine was saying the girls CANNOT be in combat, he said they can be in the military but they arent allowed to go into battle or any sort of conflict.

i dont know this just didnt seem right to me, it seems to me that it would be discrimnating on the bases of sex and thats no different then not letting blacks or mexicans do something just because they are a different color.
but i am not looking for a debate on the subject i was just wondering if this was true or not or if there is any basis for this comment

and a thanks for all the men and woman that protect our great country, this country would exist without brave people like you

The military is not an equal opprotunity employer first off.

Secondly yes females do serve in the line of fire every day. Many of them have given their lives. They cannont serve in "combat" MOSes such as infantry or tanker or something but there are A LOT of supporting MOSes that are on the front lines everyday right along side them.
Just to name a few:
Motor Transport (this is a big one that probably sees a lot of females seeing actual combat)
Medical Personel
Helicopter/Airplane Pilots
ect.

Military
Occupational
Specialty

I.E a fanncy way to say your job. The military assigns numbers (or letters and numbers) to jobs. Take me for instance. I'm a 6123 The 61 signifies aviation (helicotpers fixed wing is 62) 23 is my specific job within that larger job. I work on T-64 Gas Turbine Engines for a living.

I'm not about to try and tell the experts how to manage our military...overall, they seem to be doing a great job.

That being said, minus all the small details that I have no clue about, if a ladies can pass the training that the men can, I don't see a reason why they shouldn't be in combat roles.

I have delat with a lot of women MPs in combat and I think a few of them could kick my ass. I have no clue why they are not allowed in combat MOSs

I agree with you....except. It would end up being just like the quals for UPS drivers, firefighter, etc. They would reduce the requirement.

I know I'll take heat for such "sexist" remarks. It is nonsense though to pretend that there are not physical differences between men and women.

The women in the roles previously mentioned are performing superbly. They are just as capable as men.

I've seen lots of women at Walmart who would make good combat soldiers.

My favorite marines are the ones who think "outside the box."
