When I first saw this thread I was thinking it was going to be "Who had the biggest Johnson" thread. But as I read it, guys were posting because they were proud of their service and their part in history.

There has to be some great stories buried in all those ribbons too. I got a war story or two I will share one day. For now, here is my salad with lots of boogers.

19yrs 7 months Active duty
13 trips to the Middle East (5 to Iraq)
Afghanistan
Kosovo
Bosnia
Gulf War
Panama

Crewed Special Ops Helos then started flying C-130's for the past 14 years. Been a First Shirt and a Flight Supervisor. Now I am Stan/Eval and long for the days of being a simple E-4 line guy. I have had a great time. Been gone A LOT! And wouldn't change a thing.

There are some other Herks out there too. Not just the Gunships which I have flown but some other off the shelf stuff. But mainly Beans and bullets, ass and trash, Four Fan Trash Can and For Fans of Freedom everytime we take a unit out of the combat zone. Unarmed and very afraid! LOL.

In for 2.5 years and you already have a combat tour under your belt and have earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for Valor.

When I got in back in 1986 people almost expected to go an entire career without seeing combat.

It's funny how times change, huh?

HaHa I wouldnt nesc. call it an entire tour......I wasn't in country long before Haji decided they would "try" and attack us in a mountain pass. But yes, I know what you mean about seeing combat between now and 20 years ago. No regrets though, I'm proud to serve my country.

Marine turned Soldier - soon civilian.

Being that I started life in the military as a Marine I am almost embarressed to post this picture.

Next December I get back from Iraq, 90 days after that the Army will be done with me. Then I will either be done with the military for good (six trips to the middle east in less than 10 years will do that too you) or will be headed for the Marine Corps Reserves. I will make that decision when the time comes.

I also started out life as a Marine, but went Air Guard after six years in the Corps. Never went into theater as a Marine, flew on 77 combat missions in Afghanistan as a Guardsman. I'm not embarrassed by that at all.

I have my ribbons saved at militarysignatures.com, but on this board it won't show them, just link to them. Anyone know the fix for this?
