you see, the country needs to ignore groups like this. That way when the initial shock wears off, there are far fewer witnesses when they start dropping like flies.
I too am a PGR member and will be doing my third mission next month on a welcome home.

The PGR
I want to stay away from tooting my father's horn here because he's not in it for himself in any way but.... He rides with the PGR in Iowa and I don't know if I've been more proud of something he's ever done. I've heard what the crazy church people say about our servicemen and I just want to scream. That anyone would disgrace a serviceman by saying he died without honor in this war boils my blood. I'm a level headed guy but I really want to see them arrested for posthumous molestation of good people's names. That the PGR stands against them is glorious and I am thankful that men like my father are stepping up.

I'm not a violent person, but there a few things that get my blood boiling. Idiot protestors at military funerals is one of them. (anyone who hurts kids is another) I just wish one of these days someone would give those idiots the stomping the so justly deserve.

All I have to say my dad has a master's in theology, he's also a pastor (+2000 members) they have no biblical basis for what they are saying, if what they said was true, then all armies would be loosing, no one would win and all soldiers die. I understand that a verbally treasonous statement cannot be a crime, but why can't it be reason for a removal of citizenship? It would be nice....
Ok I know the answer is, the 2nd amendment is so we can rebel, if you lose your citizenship and are kicked out you cannot rebel... but honestly somehow there has to be some middle ground or is that impossible to attain? thoughts? |

Middle Ground
I think that, in theory, a middle ground should be reachable. I really do. There could be some way to agree to disagree with these people about the war. In fact, I think it used to exist. It was called something along the lines of proper ettiquette toward a fellow human being--something like respect. Also, in some forms, it was a debate. Debates are a form of middle ground. Like I said, though, this is in theory.
In reality right now in America a middle ground is remarkably hard to come by because people will not agree to disagree. Not one of these funeral protestors will let go the fact that these men have given their lives for their country BECAUSE THEY LOVED THEIR COUNTRY MORE THAN THEMSELVES. The people protesting cannot get their tiny little minds around the idea that someone else has a higher calling than standing around talking about stuff. SERIOUSLY the people who oppose the warriors being heralded as such just want to talk about the state of the world and terrorism and they think they know what they're talking about. They think they have a firm grasp on it and have all the right, peaceful answers. And then they cement these ideas in their minds and can't get over themselves. By extensions their minds become cement and talking with them from an opposing view is like talking to a brick wall. And the more we try to talk to the brick walls, the angrier the bricks get and, because all they really do is talk, they have to vent their vehemence somewhere and out it bursts at a soldier's funeral who gave his life that they might disagree with him. I will try to be fair, though, and say that our soldiers are equally stubborn and cement headed in their thinking. They feel called to fight for their country whatever the cost. No matter what the protestors say our soldiers believe this to their very bones and will not be dissuaded. The one thing our soldiers (currently) have that the protestors do not is a proper understanding of ettiquette toward their fellow human beings. They respect them enough to not camp on their front lawns day in and day out decrying the protestors cowardice for NOT serving our country. Our soldiers respect our citizens and agree to disagree with them and to serve them DESPITE whatever they might say. The protestors HAVE NOT GOT THE RESPECT FOR THOSE WHO DIED FOR THEM TO AGREE TO DISAGREE. And that is why we can't reach a middle ground in the US right now. Why do the protestors act this way? Why won't they keep their opinions to themselves and respect the men that are fighting for them? Well, this is a topic I should talk about elsewhere. This post is far too long already. joe
