Vietnam vets

I just came across a post by a fellow Vietnam vet and found myself wondering how many of us are members of XDTalk. I would love to hear from you. Feel free to make yourselves known. If you would rather communicate privately I will understand. To each of you I offer the words that we never heard from our fellow citizens..."Welcome home!"

USAF Cam Ranh Bay Mar 68 - Mar 69. Got there just after Tet. That was a thousand years ago -- and yesterday.

1971 -1972 US AIR CAV 1/7th Multiple areas and multiple LZ's...Grunt, 11C, carried the pig for a while, RTO, kind of a jack of all trades in the platoon. With things winding down many of us had to full fill multiple rolls as the platoon / company shrunk....

Guess I was just lucky - went into the USAF in '62, got out in '66. Missed all that nastyness - but passed through several times on TDY back when we were supporting our "advisors" over there. Just remember the smell when the doors cracked on the plane - Jesus, what a s*ithole! Could hardly breath! Did our business and got out of there as fast as we could.

The only good thing that came out of that mess was the Vietnam Era status it gave to those of us who were in service during that time but never made it over there.
