Burning an American flag should never enter the minds of ANY American. Let our enemies burn the flag and find retribution..

If you burn a flag you should be ashamed.

For those of you on this board who do not have a problem with the burning of our flag ??? I guess it will not be an issue when you get your ass beat for doing so!

We get bent out of shape for anyone stepping on our 2nd amendment rights, but when someone says something or does something that strikes a nerve, we forget about the 1st amendment. I don't want to live in a country where we all have to think alike. I want you to challenge me with your views and opinions and cause me to regularly pause and think. Hopefully I will do the same to you from time to time.

Only issue I have is that it wasn't his property that he destroyed.

And yes, I am a veteran.

If it does not bother you, being a veteran, when someone burns the US flag, especially one that was in Iraq, then you go on my ignore list. I was in Iraq 15 months and not allowed to raise old glory due to politics. Symbolism is very strong & meaningful in most all cultures throughout history. Most military veterans, as well as most true Americans, honor our US flag for what it represents, and not for the cloth.

I like this story guilty party found & just recourse taken, then case closed.

Saying 1st Amendment gives the right to burn old glory is like 2nd amendment gives a CHL the right to play cop & jury.

A veteran that does not respect/protect the US flag is ...

if it were not for violent retaliations I would be all for this story following this guy for the rest of his life. even his children and grandchildren being shamed.

To say you could care less means you do actually care, so thanks for your your warm caring thoughts. If that is not correct, double-check your expressions.

Old glory has meaning for you and that is great, but it is a piece of cloth. That Koran that gets burned is just paper, but draws rage by many Muslims. Many would feel the same way about the Bible.

How you react to these actions is in your control. Your feverish reaction is what they want. Whether you realize it or not, you then become a pawn in the game they started. This is PSYCH 101.

Your comparison example of 1st and 2nd amendments is just just wrong. I know you don't like it, but the 1st amendment does give me the right to protest and burn a flag to get my point across (speech). No, I wouldn't do it, but being able to do it is a great American freedom. I guess you and others just don't get it. The U.S. Constitution may be the greatest document ever written. It gives freedoms to ALL. Not just the people that agree with you.

I hope that is what you were fighting for in Iraq. After all, that was the first line in your Oath of Enlistment. Thank you for your service.

The fact that this jackass got bent enough about not being served alcohol to go burn someone else's property indicates some behavior / anger / addict-type issues. I doubt if he learned any lesson at all except for "don't get caught."

Too bad about the flag. When I was in Desert Storm, my neighborhood passed around a flag and each house flew it. It's now framed and hanging on my wall. If someone intentionally damaged it I'd go ballistic.

I have been to the local vfw as a guest. From getting to know some of the folks there, burning a flag there would get your teeth knocked out. Or worse.

Never been to a VFW but deployed 15 months to Iraq should be my ticket in the door. I'll have to visit one of the local VFW once my medical retirement is finalized.

My dad did 23 years in the army and has been to Iraq 4 times including desert storm and Afghanistan once, he saw some of his closest friends die for our flag, and now he is retired and trying to get over the horrible things he has had to do for this amazing and wonderful nation we live in, never will I burn the flag or disgrace my country, and for the assholes who have no problem with flag burning kiss my ass and go to hell, American soldiers are dying for the wonderful freedoms you take for granted. If I ever come across anyone who disgraces our flag I swear by god that you won't be breathing once I get done with you
