I'm on 0352. I see a problem with it. The bigger problem is the knee-jerk reaction that is occurring, just like the knee-jerk reaction that occurred with the Scout Snipers, and the Koran burning. If they were really that careless or idiotic, I wouldn't want them gracing the USMC, or the 03XX field, with their presence.

I am FURIOUS, it figures some Chair Force POGS wouldn't see a problem with this, how dare they.

They should all immediately be transferred to the USMC and be made 0311s with the exception they will receive no training at all to become rifleman and will be dropped in any 3rd world country currently experiencing the most violence in the world.
As an 0311....***K THAT! I wouldn't want a bunch of untrained derps near me. That's why we don't take anyone that doesn't want to be there.

It's difficult for me to really to what to think because I'm a former grunt and now I do public affairs, and THIS is a public affairs nightmare.

All I can say is after reading a few articles and hearing the scuttlebutt around work, this really is a case of poor taste.

These were a bunch of kids at Tech school who were making a training aid because as previously stated, unsecured pallets are a serious occupational hazard for them. That being said, they were a bunch of boots who I'm guessing honestly didn't know any better. Think back to when you were 18, you did plenty of dumb stuff too.

If this was taken by and actual Air Force Public Affairs or Photographer (It was not) then it should have never been released. The CO in charge with release authority would have seen it becoming nightmare and crushed it before ever getting out. I'm guessing the "4th estate," as the media likes to call themselves, is really pushing hard on this because of the incident with service members remains being thrown out in a dump plus this in media gold.

Instead, someone with a point and shoot went ahead and took it, uploaded it, and now we see what happens. Also, the text was added after it was taken by the individual uploading it. The truth is, personal camera's and the internet have opened up a new pandoras box that no one imagined years ago. This isn't new either. Service members with point and shoot cameras take pictures and movies all the time and them upload them to the net, and most of this footage would never be released. (Think the Marine throwing the puppy off the cliff)

All of that said, it's really an exercise in poor judgement by people who I really think didn't know better and honestly were not trying to insult our dead service members.

And honestly, no, I don't think anyone should lose their command over this. We have more important things to worry about in the war.
The text looks like it was added after the fact but the photo may have been taken by a PA or someone hired by them. When I graduated tech school back in 04 the class photo was taken by a PA Rep since you had to have special authorization to take photographs around the hanger and flight line. Can't be for certain however.

As a current Air Force NCO I am ashamed this even was thought of, let alone approved, as maintenance I can be bit morbid, wierd, and mainly disgruntled but there are lines you just don't cross.
