No surprise. Seems like all these protestors are are sons and daughters of all the hippies who protested Vietnam.

Real convenient excuse that it was "a group of anarchist" using our name.

They should be happy she wasn't alone....Hopefully someone caught them on camera and teaches them a lesson or two.
Oh, and isn't spit slightly acidic? It also carries massive amounts of bacteria. Could possibly carry disease. She should have defended herself with an assault rifle.

While I understand this comment. My anger on the way home from Vietnam wasn't with a hippie, it was with a middle class family. After flying home on a Pan AM 747, I got ill on airline food because it was too rich after eating C's and GI chow in Vietnam.

I changed over to a National Airlines jet to fly to Houston. I was in uniform (I was a 1LT) & was covering myself with a blanket because I was cold in the plane after the tropics. A middle class father (40ish), his wife, & teenage son sat down in their seats. The son sat next to me across the row from his parents. The middle class father got up and said "Don't sit next to THAT, THAT is a GI"! It angered me but I just wanted to go home and didn't bust him in the mouth. The stewardess moved him to a seat in the very back of the plane.

My lesson for all of you based on my experience, don't generalize about a group even if they are kids of former protesters. The comment by that father was worse than being spit on. Who the Hell did he think that I was in Vietnam for? I'm sorry for the Coastguardsman & despise anyone who treats any service member badly. However quit generalizing, their are idiots everywhere.

Thank you CPTKILLER for your service and for your comment about not generalizing. I think it sucks for someone to spit on anyone, especially a service member. However it doesn't mean everybody who is protesting is a scumbag. This is America and our military is the best in the world, and we owe our military our freedoms, and protesting is the form of democracy that I am told over and over again is what our servicemen and women are fighting for around the world. Let's not silence people who are fed up with corporate and political greed.

I hope and pray everyday that the protests don't get violent. But this IS America after all and we pride ourselves on public discourse and civil disobedience as a form of democracy. These people are protesting against Wall Street and the scumbags who literally stole our money, reaped all the benefits, suffered none of the pain WE ALL ARE, and got bailed out with OUR tax dollars. So let's not hate protesters (we didn't hate the Tea Party protesters and I saw town hall meetings where they spit on the politicians). I am proud to see people getting out there and protesting. Now if only our congress would do their jobs as well as our service men and women do. Seriously, congress should be ashamed of themselves.

agreed!

from yet another grateful civilian, what you guys and gals have done and continue to do for every person in this country (even those who dont show you the respect you deserve) and for those around the world is amazing.

for every disrespectful dirtbag there are 100 grateful citizens that cannot thank you enough. remember that no matter how bad it gets you will not gain anything by stooping to their level. holding yourself to a higher standard is what separates you from everyone else.
