Senate Bill 669 and our vets...

The current laws state that any head trauma, including a concussion (i.e. battle injury such as caused from an IED) will prohibit any veteran from legally owning a gun. S.669 would lift many restrictions currently in place. It seems not perfect, but is less limiting and gives vets a chance to regain their firearms.

I have also added a note about H.R. 808, which all I can say is WTF???
Bills like this just reduces any credibility of our government and politicians that think up this skunk crap.

read on and make some phone calls....

NVXDRanger...

S. 669 (Burr): This bill would protect veterans by first requiring a finding by a judge or magistrate that an individual is mentally incompetent before his guns are taken away under laws administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. This would replace the current method, which has resulted in the disarmament of more than 100,000 veterans by government psychiatrists, who have issued opinions claiming that PTSD symptoms require a returning veteran to get help to manage his financial affairs.

AND THEN WE HAVE THIS PILE OF SKUNK CRAP....

H.R. 808: This bill would create a Department of Peace, which would be tasked with, among other things, analyzing policies with respect to “tools of violence, including handguns.”

whats wrong with that? I like the idea. I want all army and police to be unarmed.

I think it make a lot more sense of a police officer responded to a armed robbery in progress with a knife. Or a Army personal to be sent into Iraq with a Nerf water gun. because clearly these guns are the problem and in order to make a "safe" environment we need to get rid of guns.

HR 808, been dead for several years
H.R. 808 [110th]: Department of Peace and Nonviolence Act (GovTrack.us)

S.669...."In any case arising out of the administration by the Secretary of laws and benefits under this title, a person who is mentally incapacitated, deemed mentally incompetent, or experiencing an extended loss of consciousness shall not be considered adjudicated as a mental defective under subsection (d)(4) or (g)(4) of section 922 of title 18 without the order or finding of a judge, magistrate, or other judicial authority of competent jurisdiction that such person is a danger to himself or herself or others."
