We just might never know. Same reason someone would sell a Colt 1921 original 1911 for $400... or a colt 1911 blue MKIV series 80 NEW for $400 or a Bushy varmint heavy barrel Ar15 for $500 or many other scenarios (no, I am NOT making any of these up)... never know what people are looking to sell/trade for.

I appreciate the concern though.

does he want to sell it for cash ?

I am not for buying guns, or other toys like dirt bikes, compound boys, jeep accessories, just for the sake of swapping them out and bartering them like an arab trader. I personally would want to have both, or get the sig, then buy a .45 XD (i already have the .45 xd compact, but i am trying to be in your shoes, here). I dont like giving my toys away.

Seems like a fair trade. Check out the used prices on sig p226, i was looking at them but the value of the used p225 surplus is to good. You can get factory certified sig p226 for right $500 delivered.

I agree, and I am not one for buying firearms as toys. The above mentioned purchases will be with me for a LONG time... the 1921 will be restored to original finish and condition; the colt MKIV series 80 will be going to a gunsmith for customization (am on a 2 year waiting list!). I am a 1911 aficionado and intend on keeping these for a LONG LONG time...

I would pick up a police trade-in P226 from local dealer...but alas, they are out at this moment... and you are right about used pricing on a used P226.
