WTT: Mossberg 500 8 shot for 5/6 shot. FTF MI

Hey everybody...
So this summer, my brother gave me an awesome gift. It was a mossberg 500 12ga. here are the "vitals":

- 12 ga, takes 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells
- 8 shot (7+1) (from website, sounds like "persuader special purpose" but doesn't say that on the barrel)
- 20" cylinder (smooth) bore barrel. No options for choke.
- Bead site
- All blued/black with synthetic stock.
- Pre drilled/tapped for weaver rail on receiver.
- Comes w/ dowel spacer to reduce capacity to 4+1.

Excellent condition... about 30-35 shots put through her total.

So, my brother got me this for me to deer hunt with. Not the worst in the world for the job but not exactly suited for it. Only drawback to this gun is that i can't put a rifled slug barrel on her b/c of the increased capacity.

I am wanting to trade this for a similar shotgun (Rem 870, mossberg 500, etc) in similar good condition with 5/6 shot capacity thus allowing me to have many more options for getting additional barrels. Want to get into hunting and want the flexibility of swapping out the barrels.

So, anybody want to up the capacity of their scattergun?

Alternatively, if there's a way i could just swap magazine tubes/barrels (keep stock/receiver), i'd be amenable to that also.

Looking for local to mid michigan only at this time. Gonna go home and hopefully get some pictures up today or tomorrow.

you can trade out the shot tubes and barrel but I would recommend it be done by a gunsmith the head spacing is set by the shot tube depth in the receiver if its not screwed in far enough you get click no bang...

maverick arms(mossberg subsidiary) list a 28" barrel that fits the long magazine tube and it takes chokes.
http://maverickarms.com/pages/barrels.htm $133
or
you can get your 20" barrel reamed and choked for tru choke tubes
for $60-$100.

check this thread
Convert Mossberg 500 to 590?
the_gunman1 had his reamed and tapped and uses it as all in one.

be sure to plug that long magazine tube when you go hunting.

It's funny, I just got a Mossberg 500A 12ga. for home defense, but I think it's also only a 2 shot, but it did come with a Slug barrel as well, that I'll probably never use. lol I'd rather have the higher capacity than the slug barrel.

That 2 shot can be fixed.. remove your barrel and turn it upside down and pull out the wooden dowel...

here are the pics. sorry for the delay.

couple things:
scope, weaver mount, sling, side saddle not included. (actually... i could include these for the right package- multiple barrels, etc).

there's one small scratch on left side of receiver above trigger... my finger is in there for an idea of scale.

may have to shake the gun pointed down with barrel off to get the dowel to center and drop out

You know, this crap happens with in-breeding. You can only hope the unfortunate, screwed up love child would take themselves out of the gene pool when they discover electrical outlets and butter knives or start huffing paint when they're 7 or 8 but every once in a while a truly magnificent specimen makes it to adulthood to display for the world just how freaking stupid they really are.
