to be more specific they cover the SHAFT (silver part) not the body. on stock vehicles there is usually a shroud of some sort over the shaft.
The point is to keep dirt/water/debris out .....

Troz I learned something, does anyone that honestly goes hiking need a camelbak? I have four currently, I use two of them and one is a spare bladder for me, but...

I have 1 previous issue USMC camelbak, its the old no longer issued one. It has a bite mouth peice with cover, however it does NOT HAVE A VALVE SWITCH. Its a 3 liter, all you need to make it perfect is a valve for four bucks. However it works fine without it as well. Not sure how clean it is, pictures/cleanliness check tonight. Its a green straight carrier. For those that don't know you'll end up feeling better at the end of your hike due to hydration becomes continous, a major improvement over bottles.

do you have a pic of the old mil one? I'm not familiar with it, wondering how much additional storage it has. I would like it for a hiking/camping/day hydration pack if its big enough.

I guess it comes down to speculating what the intent was...I posted something on here and the person who claimed it offered me something immediately in return, almost as a trade, I guess...I don't know...whatever...I'm going for a beer.
