Sellling and Shipping Firearms

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death, so if anyone knows a thread I should research let me know. I'm getting ready to sell my XD-45 ACP on this forum, and wanted to know the correct and lawful procedures I need to take to ensure my firearm gets sent to the buyer. How do you normally take care of shipping after the sale? Do you go to your local gun shop and have them ship the gun for you? Any direction with this topic will be greatly appreciated!

you will have two viable options available to you after you receive payment and a signed copy of the BUYERS FFL

1. you can a charge the buye $50 for shipping and take it down to UPS or Fedex (DHL will not ship a firearm) Take the Signed FFL with you also insure that his FFL will accept a firearm from an individulal

2. find a local FFL that works cheap and take him the FFL and have him ship it for say around $20-$25 insured with tracking and signiture required for most hand guns

if you have a local gun board that is alwasy a good place to look for an FFL, i live in oklahoma and we have www.okshooters.com and we have atleast 3 or 4 FFLS on there that handle tranfers for only like $5.00 + plus actual shipping

I'm glad you wrote. I actually live in OKC and just moved here from Edmond. I actually thought about having H&H ship the firearm for me. Is this something you recommend? When calling today, they told me to call back and speak with the ladies that handle that sort of thing, so I was unable to get a price for the shipping today. Once I get the info I need, I'll post the gun for sale.

I'm going to try to get $450 shipped. I've got lots of pictures. I've got a don Hume holster to go along with it, along with all papers, receipts. less than 350 rounds fired from it. Cleaned every 3 weeks or so.

I will do that today. Any recommendations to keep in mind with a FTF transaction? Does it need to be done at a gun shop or is that not necessary. I'll only take a certified check or straight up cash for a FTF also

nope just dont sell to a 12 year old. i normally just ask to see thier DL so that i know they are from oklahoma as its illegal to sell FTF to an out of state resident normally ftf its gonna be cash and carry only reason for a Certfied check when shipping is so that you dont have to wait until it clears to ship.

if its a scam you will probably know way before you ship.

Red face How it Be Here!

Any local FFL here will:

1.) Process the paperwork for a fee which ranges from $25-50, and this fee is only IF what you are shipping is a rare item. If a local FFL is receiving something for you that they can or could sell you, they have been known to get hyper and ugly and want to raise their FFL fees to as much as $100.

Now, do not worry, because I will not deal with him anymore.

+

2.) Charge you a shipping fee which is usually around $50.

THE MAIN THING IS....JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO ALL OF YOUR HOMEWORK "B4" YOU BUY OR SELL FROM ANOTHER FFL, because some FFL's delight in trying to make your life miserable because they got their feelings hurt that they did not sell the gun.
