WTB small compact pistol, List in thread FTF (TX)
I'm looking for a carry pistol for a girl. I have a freind of mine that is a therapist at baylor dallas and she lives by herself in a apartment right by baylor. Yeah bad area. I keep telling her it dosnt matter how nice the apartment complx is there is always that one moment that it could happen. I will be sending her to a CHL class and I want to buy her a small gun to carry. Yeah I know she cant carry it in the hospital but she can leave it in the car and carry it when she is walking to her apartment and to her car. I'm Just a friend trying to watch out for her.
Here is a list of guns I might be interested in. Kel tec 9mm Taurus PT111 or what ever S&W M&P compact XD Sub compact Or anything else compact Let me know what you or a someone you know has. I just bought a bunch of guns the other day at the gun show and none are compacts. So I cant spend alot of money on a gun. I'm thinking like $200-$300 FTF. I dont like shipping. To much paper work and extra money. |

I'm not willing to part with mine personally, but I've found that women tend to LOVE the Smith and Wesson Airweight 5 shot revolvers. They are simple, they offer good control of the weapon, and they are infinitely easy to conceal. Coupled with the fact that they are less likely to malfunction than many autoloaders of their same size and price I think they would make the perfect CCW weapon for your friend.

I actually just purchased a KelTec 380... I have a SW Airweight, and really, my wife hates it... maybe just her though...

This is a perfect weapon and caliber for a lady, rugged, dependable, and "pretty" for her sake. Compact enough for purse carry. Will last decades and the .380 caliber is an acceptable round with appropriate recoil for her. DA/SA with decocker lever:
I've had a trigger job to lighten the DA pull quite a lot. But the original springs will be included in case you want to have it returned to stock. Hell, i'll do it myself at your request if you'd like. I'm in North DFW, north of Ft. Worth actually, but shoot in Plano and am in Denton several days of the week to meet up. ![]() ![]() Both original factory wooden grips and the Hogue grips are included. Asking $395 and since it's FTF, would throw in a box of Extreme Shock protection ammo in. It also has a fobus paddle holster for R side draw. My mother in law has one and loves the slim profile and light weight. The recoil is MUCH less than a Kel Tec, so it's easy and fun to shoot, i don't even like putting more than 30 rounds through my Kel Tec 3AT because of the recoil. K9, Does that 230 have nightsights? How many mags are included?
Jake, That is a VERY nice gun. My good friend's wife has a 232 with NS which she loves, and my wife has a Bersa .380, which is a cheaper Argentine copy. The only thing I personally don't like about the Sigs is that the mag release is on the bottom of the gun, however, it is a high-quality gun. If you're friend isn't comfortable with the idea of carrying, maybe something like an xd-9 would be better for her since she'll have a very controllable gun in a larger, more powerful caliber for inside her home. If she IS going to be carrying, this might just be the thing. If you want to go with something similar, but about 100$ less, look at the Bersa Thunder, but be aware that it only comes with 1 magazine. If K9 (above) is offering 2-4 mags with his Sig, that would be a very good deal.

the list you gave for her had a lot of no goes i feel for a lady and a purse? and yes most women find recoil of the light wieght revolvers not fun, take herto a range an let her find something that fits her and shes comfty shooting, even a 22lr in a small carry would be better then something shes afraid of,, like a tuarus pt22? just a thought ,

Thank you guys for the replys. Well I have alot of choices from this web site and 2 other sites. I have about 12 guns to choose from. Let me think about it and take her to the range and see what she would be comfortable with. And I will get back to you guys. I'm interested in the sig.
