bump to top. I'm a newbie and still learning the lingo on here. If you post BTT, it will jump in the forum index as a thread with a new post. People will btt to regain any interest in their sale if no one has bought it.

are "auction" sales tolerated? i've noticed a few popping up, and i really don't think they should be allowed. there is already such a site...it's called ebay

i feel like you should know what you want for a given item and offer it up for that price. if you don't know what you want for it, or you don't know what it's worth, imho you have two options:

1. do your own damned research!

2. the aforementioned website.

can we get a ruling on this?

Here is my take on the matter. When someone posts a price for an item, it is that Price or "Best Offer" in nearly all cases, unless they note "firm". OBO is another way of saying "negotiable".

I agree that a noted price is ideal for all parties. That said, if the seller wants to leave the price open, they will need to deal with the PMs and posts. We should no dictate how one markets an item for sale, as long as the sale is legit and the items are not illegal.

Caveat Emptor. If you are buying and item, spend a few minutes researching the item. With the Internet, this task will take just a Google search or two.

fair enough please don't get mad at me for considering it my civic duty to ensure that my fellow xdtalkers not get ripped off by deceptive sales...

suggestions

As someone who has dealt with forums, sales, and forum sales, I would like to offer a few suggestions.

1. If there is a sale of a weapon that has to be transfered via FFL, why don't you arrange a call to be made from the FFL holder to the buyer, with the description before it is shipped. Peace of mind is priceless.

2. Pictures Pictures Pictures

3. Call, ask questions, and do your research. The normal problem with any sale over the net, tends to be terminology or assumption. DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING. A few more questions, even if it annoys the seller, could save you time and trouble in the future.

4. There should be a feedback forum to post interactions, sales, and warnings to your fellow forum-ites. Heck, if someone "burns" (it means to shaft, stiff, or misrepresent the sale, and not make it right) enough people, off of the board they go.

5. If you deal in anything other then a USPS money order, you are taking risks. People can now forge American Express travelers checks. Well, badly forge them, as I have found out from personal experience.

6. DO YOUR RESEARCH (It had to be said twice)

7. Do NOT let buyers remorse sully the experience. If you have regrets, either work them out with the seller (most sellers would laugh, and I agree with them) or list the item yourself for sale, minus the idiot tax, and go on with life.

8. Be absolutely certain that you want this item, but do not impulse buy. People will make stupid mistakes on an impulse. I can attest to this, as I am sure most of you can.

Remember 2 things: 1, Verify all transactions before proceeding via the main website, do not follow e-mail links. And 2, We are only human, and as such, we are flawed, believe it or not.

Just my 2 Cents

Payment options are up to the seller.

It looks like you are just short of the post count required. Refer back to the terms and conditions for details.
