Suppressed w/ Suresights

I posted this picture elsewhere on these boards, but thought it might be worthwhile to make a thread in this subforum.

Springfield Armory XD Service .45 acp
SWR HEMS Suppressor
SureSights

Personal thanks to Chaim, Mr. Springer, and Henry of SWR. I am very impressed with how this came together and enjoy it better than the HK USPc .45 acp that was previously hosting this suppressor.

The new SureSights look exciting and I hope to have another XD to host them eventually, but for now I couldn't be happier with the set I've got. As you can see, the 'desired point of impact' falls just barely inside the diameter of the suppressor so this combination creates a fantastic and intuitive sight picture.

Barrel is by Storm Lake, Suppressor is an SWR HEMS. Henry of SWR custom fit the coupler for me and everything is just tight and perfect. The lock-up is solid with the Storm Lake barrel (unlike with the factory barrel) and I've yet to have any malfunction with the suppressor. So far I've only done function testing, I'll give another report when I push the targets out and see how accurate this set-up can get.

I'd tried going with a few different barrel suppliers but got impatient. It's a personal failing. Storm Lake got me the barrel fast, but it's length required the suppressor coupler to be slightly modified to fit without contacting the front of the slide. I bought an original SWR HEMS that has been 'upgraded.' The current SWR HEMS II models may not have any issue with the Storm Lake barrels. Of course, you could get a barrel from Pistol Gear and have it cut, crowned, and threaded exactly how your suppressor requires. Mr. Springer did my trigger work and it is outstanding so he would probably be the person to have the barrel work done with. Anyway, Henry at SWR took fantastic care of me and got everything fit and working 100%. I can't speak well enough of SWR's customer service. The next suppressor I'll buy will be an SWR Trident 9.

I bought the can some time ago and was given a great deal. For current pricing you could check out SWR - About and/or contact them through email (they're great people). Storm Lake's site may be found here. The $200 tax transfer is annoying, but the pleasure of shooting suppressed is worth it. I mean, which would you rather have, a tiger-striped Desert Eagle, or a suppressed, full-power .45 acp that kicks like a kitten? My choice is obvious.

Love the SureSights with it, too. As you can see, the bright triangular profile stands out well against the black can. You don't lose the sights in the blackness or have to rely on little dots for vision. Sure, there are elevated standard notch and post sights but the SureSight system really works for me.
