XD front sight removal
I am the proud owner of an XD45 and would like to try the Sure Sight. I've read several good reviews about the sights, but have heard that the removal of the original is very difficult. Any helpful suggestions? Thanks.

In extreme cases, I've Dremeled out the front and rear sights with a cutoff wheel. (The rear was actually harder than the front on most XDs where I've switched the sights). I cut a groove in the sight paralell to the dovetail. You have to go slow and be very careful, but it works.
But before doing anything that drastic, you can just try the old fashioned way, with a hammer and a brass punch. --Leibster

Best suggestion I can give is to have a gunsmith do it. That way you can minimize potential damage to the firearm through the use of appropriate tools.
