IDPA Legal?

Well, are there any Match Directors / Safty Officers that can answer?

The rule book says...

Quote:

The following modifications are NOT ALLOWED IN ANY
DIVISION unless otherwise specifically mentioned.
A. Compensators of any type including hybrid or ported
barrels.
B. Add-on weights for a competitive advantage (this includes,
but is not limited to, weighted magazines, tungsten guide rods,
brass magazine wells, weighted grips).
C. Heavy and/or cone style barrels without a barrel bushing.
D. Sights of non-standard configuration (i.e. Ghost rings, Bo-
Mar rib, etc.).

E. Disconnection or disabling of any safety device on any gun.
F. Lights mounted on guns.

Yes, it's about the SureSight's

Which is why it's in the SureSight, LLC section.

So your question then would be, "Is the SureSight IDPA legal?" First, let me say that I am an IDPA Certified Safety Officer. Second, what follows is my personal opinion not that of the IDPA. My call is that that they are not "conventional notch and post type sights" and therefore not a permitted modification. I will follow this thread to see what my fellow SOs and ROs have to say on the matter.

The manufacturer claims the sights are IDPA legal (ninth bullet-point in the "The Suresight Exclusive Advantages" section).

If you ask, I'm sure he can post the official letter from the IDPA stating his sights were legal.

I believe they are still considered notch and post sights and would be legal for IDPA.

Thanks for the replies!

you guys are the best.

And to slugger6... thanks for being a IDPA SO... if it wasn't for people like you, the weekend wouldn't be near as much fun.

I would say they are fine but it is best to call IDPA and get their thought on the matter. The Bo-Mar Rib sights are also notch & post, but they are noted as non-standard.
