I hope in the future they will be able to stamp out the area where the yellow goes and recess it. I recommended looking into a process called Pad Printing which might enable them to do just that.

I agree with Desert Wolf pad printing would be a good route if Chaim can recess the image area. With pad printing you have to pay close attention to the cliche's (steel plate laser etched with graphic image on it) size and edge patterns to get a crisp image. But i think this would be a great next step in product improvement. Also a clear coat protective coating will help with wear. Usually a UV coating works best for abrasion.

Recessing the yellow would be great, one of the first things to enter my mind when I saw them was how careful I'll have to be with solvents because the yellow is so exposed. I'm very careful in how I handle my guns and how I clean them, so I hope this won't be a problem. Have they done any R&D testing on the sights vs. standard cleaning chemicals?

I sure hope I dont have a problem. I asked this question along time ago before ordering mine. See this thread: Chemical Resistance

One thought I had (knowing absolutely NOTHING about firearm finishes) is what if you had the sights mounted then gave the whole slide a Moly Clear Coat? Would this add a clear, protective layer over the sights or be detrimental?

Mine came fed ex on the day they were suppose to. I took the gun and the sights to my Gun dude (who will no longer be my gun dude. He proceeded to install them in 15 minutes. Only charged me $10 because in his words, "I nic'ed them a bit!" So now I have them installed and each, the front and read sight have a 'nic" in the yellow!!

Sooo. yea they do work and work well, but I see those "nic's" everytime I sight them in and I just can't get over it!!

Needless to say, I am not a happy camper and WON'T be posting any pictures of them installed on my XD9SC.

Anyone know if there is a 'touchup" for these puppies!?!?

Well that sucks!
That's why I sent mine out to AJames to have them installed. My slide should be in the mail on its way back to me now.

If a gunsmith damaged a component of my firearm while trying to install it I would expect him to replace it, not hand me the botched job and charge me for it. Boycott the hell out of that guy, get your friends to do it to.

Believe me, I won't and neither will anyine else i know go back! I really hate doin that cause he is just an old guy workin the shop himself in his retirement, but hey, he messed them up, so......

I have never had a problem with him and he even goes oit of his way to make sure that he treats people right. This time he just messed up.

The fact is that they aren't nic'd real bad, but I no they are and if you look hard enough, you can spot it on the rear. They still function as they should, its just the fact that they aren't "right".

I guess this just gives me a reason to wait and buy a set of "night sights" when sure sight comes out with them!

BUT, They will be installed a REAL pro!!

So again, if anyone knows of a "touch up" kit, I'll be in your debt!

Chaim, CEO of SureSight, personally responded to my inquiry about the rear sight and whether or not the printing of the yellow portion was within factory spec. and said he will be sending a replacement rear sight. Now, I'm a young pup by most standards in the shooting world but I've dealt with a fair number of firearms and accessory dealers and I must say I've seldom run into a company that backs up their products as solidly as this.

As excited as I am about the company and it's people I'm now even more excited to get the product mounted to my XD.

EDIT: I exchanged emails with Chaim this morning about the rear sight and just checked my email again. The replacement sight has already been shipped! How's that for customer service?
