Thank you so much Neomet for this review. I have been sitting on the fence to see how you do, to really decide for the replacement of the stock sights. If you could add more comments on how they do in low light I would appreciate it, particularly around the house.

Bowling pin
Thanks for the kind words guys. Glad to provide one person's experience.
Went to the bowling pin match today. This is shot at an indoor range, fairly dim light (not a low light stage, but certainly nowhere near as bright as typical daylight.) 5 pin shoot. In the first qualifier I shot my 9mm 1911 with Dawson FO front sight and stock target rear. 147 gr bunnyfart rounds. Second qualifier I shot with my .45 with the Suresight. I shot the brackets with the .45 shooting 230 Aguilla factory ammo. First round I missed the pins three times. Second round I missed one pin but had a failure to fire. I shot the second round 29.5% faster. I barely made the cut into the bracket shooting and in the first round went against the number one seed. My first round was another failure to fire as was my third. Of course I was going to get spanked anyways but those two FTFs psyched me out completely. Thoughts after this are: 1. The front sight really gets my attention. 2. For whatever reason I seem to like having the point of the triangle to put on target more than even a narrow 1.0 Dawson. Might change my mind on that but it is what I noted tonight. 3. Scott out at Springer Precision is omniscient. He suggested that my occasional FTFs were not a case of bad primers but probably a broken firing pin roll pin. It appears that he is, yet again, correct. Dang!!! Someone asked about how they are around the house. The longest distance I have in our apartment is about 5-7 yards. My rules of engagment are if I can't tell what it is, I'm probably not going to shoot it unless it is stupid enough to try to bust through our bedroom door at which point the coroner will not only be taking my bullets out of the corpse but also splinters from the bedroom door I just shot through. With those as my shooting parameters the sights work great. With a taclight on, the outline of the front sight is easily visible against any target.

3/29/07 Tac Match
Well, got my slide back from Springer Precision after Scott replaced a failed firing pin block spring for me. Amazing service yet again. Thanks Scott!!
Took the .45 to the club Tac match tonight. Haven't shot the .45 for a bit over a week and a half. Also a couple of new variables in all of this. I had noticed that my right (non-dom) eye vision was significantly crisper than my left eye and this was making my focus on the front sight.........challenging. So I went to the optomotrist today and got some contacts for my left eye that have the focal distance set exactly for my front sight instead of the bifocals I had been using. Also I got some Magic Dots which are 19mm stickums that I put on my shooting glasses over my right eye. The combination of these two things have rather dramatically improved my ability to see the front sight while still having a decent view of the targets. So anyways the match today was pretty wild for a club match. 30 rounds for the first stage with a couple very narrow shots to make due to no-shoots covering several of the targets. No targets beyond around 15 yards. My final percentage was 18% higher than last month's club match. (Remember I am not particullarly skilled so it isn't like I am starting off at 80% in the first place. Things I noticed: 1 I never "lost" the front sight behind the shoulders of the rear. This is a definite benefit of this type sight. My presentation of the gun is still inconsistant so every once in awhile I lose the front sight with a post and notch. 2 Tight shots done quickly are a bit difficult, particullarly if they are tight horizontally. I am not comfortable focusing on the target and letting the sights be fuzzy for these shots and it seems to take a bit of time to get everything lined up correctly. 3 Hosing down targets at 5 yards is extremely easy with these sights. we had one target at about 5 yards that we had to put 6 shots in tonight. At this range I can just stare at the center of the target, let the sights be a somewhat fuzzy triangle and drill alphas all day long. It is for this reason that I would at this point definitely recommend these sights for a carry pistol. You don't need to hit the left ventricle to stop the BG, center mass will do just fine and most gunfights take place at this distance. The sights seem almost specifically designed for this, particullary if you don't shoot a thousand rounds a month. As far as a competition sight the jury is still out. Stay tuned as I practice some more with these sights over the weekend and will probably do my "shoot-off" next weekend. Till next time.........
